Chapter 15 has a flashback which reveals how Celestia and Luna's parents returned to the planet just long enough to drop off Luna. Celestia isn't even able to touch them for the few minutes they're there, and the way she begs for them not to leave her again is just heartwrenching.
In the end of Chapter 2 of the sequel Waning Moon, while Celestia tried to do the opening speech of the Filly Scout Jamboree, most of the fillies yelled at her for being here instead of Luna. She left the Jamboree in tears.
Insert Author Here's untimely passing on June 10th, 2018, as confirmed by his brother on the comments of his profile. Not only because this series will never be finished, but especially since the fandom has now lost a very long-time fanfic author and MLP Reviewer who had been active for over 6 years. He will be missed.
