- One bit of the live action trailer
shows Samus as a little girl. This would be adorable, but at the moment Kid Samus is screaming in fright as Ridley swoops towards her to try and kill her. - The opening flashback cutscene recreates the climax of Super Metroid in full 3D graphics, complete with Samus' horrified expression. It also adds her reaching out to the baby as it's mortally wounded in a futile attempt to do anything.
- Adam's Heroic Sacrifice. Something had to be done to stop the now-indestructible Metroids. Someone also had to stop Ridley. Adam couldn't hope to take on Ridley so there was no other way. He had to did to save the Galaxy from an impending Scourge of unstoppable Metroids. He knew it. Samus knew it but was in denial, not wanting him to die. The unavoidability of what he has to do somehow makes the scene more sad...
- The scene with Samus finding his helmet after endgame. Samus picks it up, and then reminisces of Adam in the control room watching her as she plans to go to Sector Zero. Adam shouts "No! Samus!" with a pained and worried expression on his usually neutral face, and runs off to go to intercept her, leaving his helmet behind. After this, it cuts back to Samus, who then hugs the helmet. Then out of nowhere, it's time for the escape sequence! This is all done with NO monologue either. And the music... It is sad, even if something hilarious such as the sirens going off into it spoils the perfect moment...
- There's Madeline's utter devastation over Melissa's death.
- In that scene the GF's Insane Admiral (or whatever his job was...) crushes Melissa's hairpin. That pin is a gift from Madeline that in a way represents their Mother - Daughter bond. So that scene is symbolic of him and by extension the conspirators, being incapable of understanding or caring about the bonds between mothers and their children and trampling over them in persuit of their plans. Low.
- Anthony's "death", even though he turns out to be okay.
- In a strange way, and in a mix of Nightmare Fuel, Ridley's death! Sure, he may be a clone of the true Ridley, but by the time of his death, all he was ever attempting to do was recover from his injuries, made even worse that he's often considered the best part of the game. And then the Queen Metroid trudges up to him. Ridley, in horror, tries to escape, but to no prevail as he was immediately killed by the Queen. Even Samus could only react in confusion and genuine fear upon seeing his husk...that an X Parasite would find handy later on.Samus: Ridley... What could have happened?
