    Title Sequence

    Prologue
  • Immediately after what happened to Camila, Lilith was given orders to go on vacation to clear her head. A few days later, she's on a hangover from drinking apple blood and is more miserable than before.
  • A while later, Odalia calls Lilith to babysit her children due to her and Alador attending a meeting she can't reschedule. In reality, it's part of Odalia's plan to get Lilith to spend time with Amity before asking her to be her mentor and godmother so she'll be able to join the Emperor's Coven in the future. And we all know how that turns out...
  • That's not going into the fact that Amity's still a newborn infant when this happened. Her parents were too busy to care for the kids and with the twins developing their magic early and becoming hellraisers, they couldn't find a proper sitter. Can you blame Amity for being miserable when she's in a playpen surrounded by toys crying out for her mother?

    Chapter 41: Recovering
  • As the inhabitants of the Owl House play catch up and Eda mentions having no more magic, Lilith demonstrates her own weakened magic and says she's finally paying for cursing Eda. Even though Eda reminds her it means they're together now, Lilith's smile vanishes as quickly as it appears upon looking at Luz and remembering what she did to her mother.
  • When Luz comforts Amity about Puck, the latter takes note of the former's hand shaking as she holds her own. Luz is either more angry or more scared than she's letting on and is putting Amity's state of mind first.
  • Odalia is pretty much freaking out when she contacts the Owl House wanting reassurance that Amity's safe. As much as she wants her Mittens home, Odalia has to admit she's safer if she stays away until she can do damage control.
    • As the rest of the Blight family checks on Amity, Emira reveals that they're now under surveillance by the Emperor's Coven for suspicion of treason and reporters bugging them. Amity's actions at the petrification ceremony put them in quite a predicament.
  • Steve calls Lilith to check in on her, but she tells him to cease communication with her for good worrying he'll be punished for staying loyal to her now. She's putting his safety first, but he doesn't take it well.
  • None of the kids want to assume the worst in regards to Anu Bist, who has disappeared since the previous day's events.
  • As Amity learns from Skara, Amelia and Cat have been forbidden from seeing her hence why they didn't come to check on her.
  • Luz pulls Willow aside to apologize for unintentionally neglecting her while focusing on her own problems. Willow doesn't hold it against her.
    • Luz then begins to talk with Gus about not telling him about the prejudices of the human world (which are plentiful), including the truth behind witch prosecutions out of fear he'd become afraid of her. She hopes it didn't affect the H.A.S., but Gus informs her of Elliot leaving and Cat's parents forcing her to drop out and join the surgery club despite her squeamishness with organs...
    • ...although what Gus is really mad about is the fact that Luz took Amity in after her deal with Lilith had been revealed. He makes it clear he doesn't trust Amity anymore and believes she'll won't just hurt both Luz and Willow again, but outright abandon them once she doesn't need Luz to protect her anymore and can return home. Gus takes his leave saying he can't support Luz's decision; nevertheless, she decides to give him more space and time to cool off noting it's not like him to be so spiteful.
    • After Gus' scene, Amity agrees that what's happened is her fault only for Lilith to tell her she's to blame for everything in an attempt to comfort her. This backfires as Amity agrees with her statement.
  • Because everyone knows Eda has no magic now, all of her monopoly partners are severing their ties with her for the sake of business. With no magic and two more people under her roof, Eda shows concern about how they'll manage.
    • One of the messages Eda gets is from Gwendolyn. Based on how Eda hears the message, Gwendolyn only cared about her being in trouble, completely ignoring her other daughter, her adopted granddaughter, her surrogate grandson and her grand-goddaughter being there too.
  • As Jerbo says for Skara, it's an awkward arrangement for Amity to stay at the Owl House since she and Luz have broken up. Even though the girls agreed to look out for and still care about each other immensely, they haven't gotten back together and don't know where their relationship stands now, hoping things improve given time.
  • Barcus (with Jerbo's help) reveals to Lilith that she's "in between" life and death and smells like cigars and rum (possibly from the Baron.) Lilith, who was already struggling to cope with her near death experience, becomes concerened about this.
  • After Willow, Skara, Bo and the ex-troublemakers leave, Hooty hopes Puck will drop by and visit too, still in the dark about his death. Realizing this, Luz reveals what happened and Hooty begins to cry, now knowing his best friend is gone...
    • ...which leads to him, the girls and King holding a funeral for their fallen friend. During her piece, Luz berates herself believing had she forgiven Puck, maybe things would've gone differently...
    • ...while Amity starts to get angry and shed tears at having to watch Puck's death. She declares her hatred for Belos and refuses to allow him to live after all he's done and what he could do. Luz has to comfort her to get her to calm down.
    • It's also important to note that unlike certain instances where he was upset in canon, this isn't played for laughs. There isn't any exaggerated sobbing or screaming. Hooty is genuinely mourning the death of his best friend.
  • He makes sure no one notices the looks of guilt he has, but it's easy to see how Hunter feels about both Puck's death and the pain it caused & his attempt on Lilith's life, only seeing her as when he left her for dead.
  • The real reason Hunter visited his boyfriend and his friend was so he could place bugs in their homes allowing Belos to monitor them. Not only has Hunter given his uncle another edge, he's robbed those close to him of their remaining privacy: there's no telling how Belos will utilize this.

    Chapter 42: Family Group Therapy
  • Whoever's observing everything is scared when Belos detects him, worried about this since it's the second time this has happened and he shouldn't be heard.
  • Amity panics after having a nightmare about Puck's death and being captured by the Emperor to be punished. When Luz checks on her, Amity breaks down crying and she pulls Luz into a hug.
  • Without her magic, Eda resorts to hunting to put food on the table. One such hunt leads to her, Luz and King losing their target and getting chased by bat-winged flying squirrels.
  • Amity continues to make it clear she hasn't forgiven Lilith, rebuffing any attempt her godmother makes to even talk to her. She even gives Hooty more attention than she does Lilith.
  • Tom had a Friendless Background back home as a result of his temper, having gotten angry for the smallest things. He also doesn't want to talk about how he lost his parents, rubbing a scar on his left arm.
  • Horace, the guy with the bowl cut who used to bully Gus, starts doing it again now that Luz isn't around. This proves Luz really did protect Willow and Gus from people like him.
  • Following a meeting of the Surgery Club, Cat immediately throws up in a trash can. Then she talks with Amelia about how much she misses the H.A.S., how unfair it is of their parents to force them to block Amity on their scrolls and social media accounts and sided with Nicole, and how especially unfair that Amity's been hurt because of the Heirons and things at school would've gone normally had it not been for their stunt before Cat throws up again.
  • When the group therapy begins, Lilith comes right out of the gate saying she knows she hurt Eda, Amity and Luz as a result of her selfishness and they have every right to hate her for their current situations. And after learning about Luz's mother and not wanting Amity to learn that Odalia gave her the idea to curse Eda, Lilith considers leaving the Owl House worried she'll only cause them more pain.
    • King goes next, taking responsibility for keeping the truth about Eda's curse getting worse from Luz out of guilt. He goes on to say it's pretty much his fault Luz ended up in the Forest of Fear.
    • Luz confesses the reason she didn't tell Eda and King about her cambion form was that she's scared of it and she doesn't know what she is anymore.
    • Amity admits she wasn't thinking straight when she went along with the rescue and feels awful for putting her family in their current position, and after she believed they were getting better.
  • Amelia and Cat attempt to sneak over to the Owl House to see Amity only to get caught by their parents. It leads to an argument that confirms all four adults are still being manipulated into following Nicole's lead just like when they were teenagers and ends with the girls being grounded and escorted home.
  • Thanks to the Rusty Smidge, Belos is now aware of Raine's treachery but instead of arresting them, he allows them to continue their rebellious actions so he can some benefits out of it calling them a pawn.
  • Webstor's fate is finally revealed: he's been badly injured by Kikimora and locked up in the Conformatorium struggling to stay alive. His cellmate says the reason they're both still alive is because of the terrible things they know, breaking down crying from what they know.
  • Amity's not the only one suffering from nightmares. Luz has been dreaming of what happened in the Forest of Fear and it causes her to start transforming as a result.

    Chapter 43: Unemployment Filing
  • Due to complaints from concerned parents, Amity loses her job at the library and she's shown leaving in tears. Luz blames herself, but Amity says she made her choice and is still accepting the consequences that come with it.
  • In contrast to "Seperate Tides", Lilith not having money to use for her family is explained as being because her credit card's been canceled, leaving her broke.
  • Amity still feels guilty about not reporting her mugging which led to Levi's, so she signs up to work on his father's fishing boat with the perk of getting money for the Owl House. It isn't easy since the sailors don't trust her, openly insult her and make her job harder.
    • Capt. Goonla, Levi's father, is especially hard on her, as he doubts someone of upper class like a Blight can't handle the work that comes with the job. However, Levi says he's only taking his anger about his business suffering out on Amity and is just stressed.
  • Levi's really been out of the loop since he dropped out, especially regarding Amity's Heel–Face Turn, since he didn't expect her to agree with him and his father putting their own lives at risk to help free the wild witches they're helping to escape the Boiling Isles. Up until now, he still believed she was still "Little Miss Perfect".
  • It's definetely sad that Captain Hook is so obsessed with besting Peter Pan himself that he refuses to even consider the idea that someone else beat him to it, outright denying that possibility.
  • There's no given answer on what Hook did to Tinker Bell and all of Neverland before he came to find Peter Pan in the Isles, but it's implied that it's not good.
  • Not only is Hades just the co-ruler of the Underworld now, he also has an ex-wife and kid who probably don't respect him.
  • As Larry reveals, witches are no longer being mugged, but are now being kidnapped in broad daylight.
  • For some reason, the Baron has Puck's shadow steal Camila's glasses from the Owl House. He basically stole Luz's only physical keepsake of her human mother and the chances to use them in another séance to speak with her.
  • The chapter ends with the Coachman, arguably one of the moat despicable villains in Disney history, now setting up shop on the Boiling Isles, ready to capture young witchlings and send them to their doom...

    Chapter 44: Blindsided
  • As part of her latest attempt at revenge, Nicole blackmails the Brookes into helping her (regardless of their cutting ties with her) by using photographic evidence of Slasher's unknown Dark Secret.
  • Boscha has just returned to Hexside and after what she did to Luz and Amity, it's implied she's become a social pariah Hated by All the students and feels completely alone. Even worse, Dolly is clearly enjoying her misery since it means it'll be easier for her master to go after the triclops.
  • After Luz, Amity, Willow and Gus get expelled because of Nicole, Gus expects Luz to come up with a plan to get them out of this mess. Instead, Luz surprises everyone by deciding to do nothing and goes on to admit she expected this to happen one day because of her past chaos. But the reason she's resigned to accept this is because she feels guilty that the others got dragged down with her.
  • Skara is stunned when she finds her parents sided with Nicole and becomes disappointed with them. She attempts to chew them out for this only to become even more shocked when she learns why they did it.
  • As it turns out, Gus has become despondent because Perry told him what happened to his mother. Gus keeps saying he understands, but he's clearly upset by he was told.
  • While Skara leads all of Luz's friends to get the girls and Gus readmitted into Hexside, they hit a few snags when several students refuse to sign their petition, either because of peer pressure or because they don't want to get in trouble with their parents for supposedly supporting the Clawthornes. Even when Skara reminds them of how Luz has done good things for them, they pretty much hightail it away from her.
  • The only reason Nicole gave Skara the idea of the petition was to give her false hope for choosing Luz and her friends over Boscha. So imagine how she made her and everyone else feel when it seemed like the petition failed because they (supposedly) missed one signature and rubbed it in their faces.
    • On top of that, imagine how all the parents Nicole blackmailed felt after suffering under her thumb for so many years. It makes her getting her comeuppance all the more satisfying for them.
  • While looking at the Abomaton soldier at her parents' company weapons sale, Amity tenses up: Luz realizes she's thinking about Phil and she admits she's been trying not to.
  • Pulling Luz aside to talk, Odalia tells her that once she gets everything sorted out and Amity can return home, she expects Luz to end their friendship since she's the overall reason the Blights are in their current predicament. Luz doesn't take the bait and tells her it's Amity's choice to make, but Odalia tries to put it into terms to try and make her think about it. It goes to show that despite putting Amity's well being first more now, Odalia's still trying to put her on the path she wants.
  • Just like "Escaping Expulsion" the Blight parents end up working for the Emperor's Coven since their Abomatons are seen as a potential threat as a private army. But since they're already on thin ice here, the Golden Guard makes it clear they can't risk slipping up again if they want their youngest daughter to return home.

    Chapter 45: Stranger Danger
  • After seeing Phil get petrified, not to mention gaining sentience before he was, Amity's been unable to create a new abomination since she feels guilty he pretty much gave up his short life to help her.
  • Like Emira, Viney begins messing with Luz and Amity about their relationship. They may have been joking, but remember how the girls broke up plus the events that followed because of it and see if you're still laughing afterwards.
  • Mattholomule shows a bit of issues with low confidence, since he isn't able to stand up to his own bullies like Gus is.
  • The shocking truth behind Boscha forcing Skara to end her friendship with Bo: turns out Boscha has a crush on Skara and wanted her to herself, so seeing Skara hook up with Willow was a devastating blow to her.
    • It gets worse: imagine how Boscha was feeling when Skara decided to give up on her altogether. She was afraid of losing her oldest friend and ended up causing that to happen herself.
    • Boscha later confesses to Tom that she believes herself to be as much of a coward as Nicole, using her family's wealth and status to hurt people.
  • As the girls discover, the Coachman has been around for centuries, and he's been pulling the same atrocious act with turning children into donkeys during all that time. It's never revealed how many have perished in that state, but it's implied to be by the millions.

    Chapter 46: Escape
  • Although glad the Coachman's been defeated, Jiminy Cricket still carries the inner guilt of failing to keep Pinnochio out of his clutches.
  • Hunter's been having nightmares about the visions he saw, and it's causing him to worry about losing Edric to the point he starts blaming himself for not being at Pleasure Island to save him.
  • Tom ends up drawing attention to himself when his Trauma Button is pushed: due to the resulting Freak Out, the Emperor's Coven now know about him and will arrest him for being a public menace.
  • Dr. Facilier's now an Asshole Victim as the Baron trapped his soul in a shrunken head and possessed his body.
  • Lilith finds out Eda has been in regular contact with their mother and discovers that since Gwendolyn only focuses on curing Eda's curse, she neglected Luz as a result. She also sees how sensitive Eda gets concerning their father and they both end up getting upset when Eda accidentally reminds her why she doesn't contact him.
  • The second he makes his appearance, Oberon proves himself to be a tyrant lording over the rest of the fae and has no sentiment towards his deceased stepson.
  • It seems Skara has made it through the day with no one learning about her condition. But not long after Willow leaves, something impersonating her mother starts calling her a monster before it kidnaps her. By the time her parents get to her room, they're gone.

Chapter 47: The Book of King
  • Since Luz and Amity got back together, it's not hard to agree on the idea that King's trying so hard to get Luz's attention because of how much time the girls spend together.
  • Everyone's heard about Skara disappearing and fear she's been kidnapped. Willow's especially worried: she and Skara just got together and she's afraid she might've lost her.
  • It's clear a part of Amity's still mad at Lilith for telling Luz she couldn't be a witch, hence why she's so supportive of King's belief that he was a true king, given how harshly she reminded Lilith who's left speechless.
  • After telling King the truth about how Eda found him which leads to him running off, Luz starts tearing up because she's afraid she didn't learn her lesson on keeping secrets. What's worse is that she automatically assumes Amity's disappointed in her, reminding us how much she values her girlfriend's opinion of her.
  • While Eda promises not to keep anymore secrets, Lilith is described to be hiding an uneasy look. She still isn't ready to confess to Camila's death.
  • The Owl House ends up getting severely damaged by Glandus High students looking to send a message to Luz for beating up their own. It's an omen for things to come.
  • As it turns out, whatever kidnapped Skara is working for the Inner Demon, who's torturing her by having an image of Willow demand to know her secret, reminding her of Amity burning her memories and forcing her to face her inner self: a werewolf, and all while her transformed body is on the hunt.

Chapter 48: I Was a Teenage Adult Witch
  • Following the Pleasure Island incident, the Emperor's Coven has been holding Fae awareness assemblies. Luz and Amity see this as propaganda, remembering how Puck died labeled a criminal.
  • Back when they were still friends, Amity had a small crush on Willow but ignored it so it wouldn't risk ruining their friendship. She only got over it when they stopped being friends.
  • During her first counseling session with Ms. Traveler, Luz admits she's been on edge since being attacked by the werewolf and the Glandus punks attacked the Owl House. And with her cambion powers acting up, she's beginning to have an identity crisis on her species and she feels like she belongs even less.
  • While figuring out what Eda and Lilith remember after being aged down to teenagers, Luz (as an adult) lets slip that their memories go up to when Lilith cursed Eda, which a panicking Lilith confirms. Eda, angry and hurt that her own sister is the reason she's stuck with the Owl Beast, tells her to go to hell before running upstairs in tears while Lilith locks herself in the bathroom in shame.
    • Any attempt Lilith makes to apologize is promptly brushed off, with Eda saying it won't help.
  • Thought it was hard to see a young adult Lilith barely keeping it together when Odalia broke up with her? Well, seeing Lilith take it as a teenage is worse, as she breaks down crying from the news.
  • Gus starts going down a bad path in this chapter: first he gets arrested for shoplifting at the Bonesborough Bazaar, then he yells at Luz for acting like a mother to him (hinting it's bugging him more), then he acts like a total jerk to teen!Lilith saying Eda shouldn't have forgiven her before going home complaining that Eda's going to tell his dad about his month-long ban from the mall after hearing about it from Luz.
  • Skara can only yell for Willow to run from her wolf side from within her mind, but that doesn't compare to the horror and shock she feels when the Inner Demon tells her about her pulling out Amity's memory photos led to Dolly getting the one Boscha exposed to the whole school. She's shown to be feeling extremely guilty when confronted by Amity.
  • Nicole places a bounty on Skara for attacking her daughter, despite Boscha stating she only got scratched: Nicole merely brushes her off. Not hard to imagine how everyone, specifically Willow, Boscha and Skara's family was feeling when they heard the news, plus with the Demon Hunters and the Emperor's Guard taking up the offer.
  • As Luz and Amity travel to reach Skara, they both show concern with being stuck in their current bodies as it means having to raise Eda and Lilith with Amity possibly having to join a coven to support them.

    Chapter 49: Grandmother Knows Best
  • Luz and Gwendolyn's relationship is strained here unlike canon since Gwen knew Luz her whole life and barely acknowledged her, referring to her as one of Eda's "pets" while visiting Eda to try and cure her curse.
    • The slayground incident made it worse: Luz strived to earn Gwen's approval but eventually, she stopped and grew to resent her as much as Eda. And all because she saw Luz's ears and made her feel unwanted.
  • Slasher's side of the Brooke family turns out to be made up of naturally born werewolves ever since Were-Fever hit the Boiling Isles years ago, and the vaccine the Healing Coven made was ineffective on them. While the Emperor's Coven won't take action against them for being werewolves, they still won't hesitate to put them down should they lose control and cause a panic: Slasher mentions he lost several family members that way, and Skara needs to stay home for a little while so her mother can do damage control because her life is at risk otherwise.
    • Apparently, the Brookes thought Skara didn't inherit the condition when in reality it was dormant until she transformed. And then there's Scabrina they need to think about...
  • As Luz explains her relationship with Gwen to Amity, the Blight asks about her grandfather (which is accompanied by Lilith wincing in the background). Luz says she asked Eda about Dell only once and Eda became so saddened, she locked herself in her room to cry.
  • Lilith's first transformation into the Raven Beast here is caused by the Baron, who's trying to force her into confessing she caused Camila's death to Luz. Just hearing his voice in her mind was stressful enough, but him calling her a murderer makes her blood run cold.

    Chapter 50: Breaking Ties
  • It turns out that the Oracle Coven has spoken to several children and teenagers who've fallen victim to the Inner Demon and that they all either became shells of their former selves or disappear in the Forest of Fear because of him.
  • Having lost so much of his family, Slasher's close to teetering on the verge of desperation to protect his daughters from falling to the Inner Demon again.
  • Dusty Bring'ems and his beast, Cutler, get severely injured by Nina Fangs, a Glandus High junior who all but declares she intends to do the same to Luz.
  • Lilith pretty much giving herself a "Reason You Suck" Speech born of self loathing when Odalia comes to take Amity home.
I'm sorry, for everything I've done and put your family through. I'm sorry for how our last talk went down, I should never have let what happened to your daughter get out of hand. Apologizing to you won't erase everything I've done, you have every right to be mad at me. I know that you are her mother and I know that I don't deserve her. I don't deserve anything.
  • To Amity and King's horror, all of Alador's siblings have suffered hideous mutations into abominations thanks to the unsafe conditions of their parents' factory. And rather than ask for help curing them, Arthur and Destiny keep them locked up and told Alador they died.
    • Arthur and Destiny's behavior before the discovery is outright off-putting: they disregard Edric and Emira, call Luz an "exotic" creature, and when Amity refuses to work with them, they decide to lock her away to keep her from revealing the truth (with the way they restrain her causing her to remember her mugging in fear.)
  • Odalia's single-minded and rash decision to bring Amity home only succeeds in pushing her away for good: not only does she try to do it by force and demand she end her relationship with Luz when she learns they're back together, she lets slip that she gave Lilith the idea to curse Eda, a fact even Alador didn't know and is shocked by. This causes Amity to angrily renounce herself as a Blight and become nameless.
    • In a display of raw strength and power, Amity levels the original Blight Industries without batting an eyelash. This ends up scaring her since she didn't even make a spell circle and was just looking for a way to release her anger.
    • With the declaration of being nameless, Amity knows her leaving her old life behind means she has to leave Edric and Emira at Odalia's mercy.

    Chapter 51: A Surprising Visitor
  • To bring Camila back to the world of the living, the Baron sacrifices Puck's shadow so she can have a physical form. This means any trace of Puck left in the mortal realm has been permanently erased.
  • Upon seeing Camila face to face and alive, Luz denies it and assumes it's the shapeshifter. Seeing her cry as she demands Camila stay away shows how sensitive she is to the idea of someone using her birth mother against her.
  • Odalia becomes hated by her family as a result of what happened with both Eda and Amity and they end up becoming more divided than ever. Emira goes as far as to convince Edric to run away from Blight Manor because she's tired of their parents barely being in their lives and without Amity, there's no point putting up with Odalia now. After they leave and Odalia finds their note, she starts crying and goes to get some apple blood, strongly implying she's going to turn out like Calypso pre-recuperation...
  • Camila gets really depressed when she starts to explain how Luz's father died, but luckily Luz doesn't let her go any further into detail besides it being why they moved to Minnesota.
  • Alador had though he escaped his parents with Odalia's help but at the end of the day, he couldn't escape his family's legacy. His siblings had to suffer at their parent's hands and thinking about what could've happened to Amity drives him to tears.
  • Gus refuses to join in on the group chat Luz is hosting and ignores her call, causing her to worry he's still mad at her for getting him grounded.
  • Not only is Camila's return stressing Lilith out enough to need several elixirs to tamp down her curse, the Baron makes it clear she can't get out of it because he "owns her soul", a fact she can't deny.
  • It'd be hard or easy (depending on how you think about it) to imagine how Geist ended up running a bar out of his old lounge.
    • Hell, it's hard not to feel sorry for Jugo, the guy in Geist's bar who got dumped by his girlfriend by text.
  • Back on Earth, Dipper has just discovered Bill's true colors and breaks off his deal with him after he hurts Mabel. However, that's no good; it doesn't stop Bill from going after and manipulating Luz. Not to mention Dipper and Mabel's relationship has become strained since he kept Bill a secret from her, leaving him left feeling like an idiot and hoping Luz won't fall for Bill's tricks.

    Chapter 52: No Dancing Around
  • The chapter opens up on a Flashback revealing an event that's been mentioned for a long time: Levi's mugging at the hands of Bangles, Zepher and the blue-haired girl, the former sporting a knife.
  • After Luz discovers Gus has been hanging out with Bria, Gavin and Angmar, things escalates into a heated argument between the two as Luz tries to warn him about the Glandus students before Gus voices his anger that everyone's forgiven Amity, going as far as to say she forced Luz into forgiving her by spiking her with something. This ticks Luz off enough to knock a tree over before she storms off, calling Gus a spiteful brat.
  • As it turns out, Goonla came to the demon realm when he was spotted by human hunters whose spears resulted in him losing his left arm.
  • Seeing Gus act bitter about Amity causes Mattholomule to say he's no different than Boscha since he's being an ass to Luz as a result. Matt goes on to tell him about how his parents got divorced and his father having an affair before it happened: it wasn't easy for him to move on.
  • After hearing Amity's considering dropping out of Hexside on top of being a wild witch, Eda brings up how she never got to finish school and that she doesn't want Amity to just abandon their world for the human realm. She goes on to reveal she got mugged too, and that she experienced much worse than Amity.
  • Mattholomule ends up luring Amity to the Looking Glass Graveyard on Bria's orders so she can get Gus to hurt Amity. When Gus refuses, Bria simply traps him alongside Amity to use them as bait to get Luz to come so she, Gavin and Angmar can attack her while powered up by the galdorstones. Gus realizes Mattholomule was in on this and the constructor calls himself too much of a jerk to be his friend before admitting he's been following all of Bria's orders lately because she threatened to hurt Bo if he didn't.
    • How Mattholomule and Bria stopped being friends tugs the heartstrings. He reveals that they'd been friends for years and she threw it all away the moment she threw him under a bus to rise up Glandus' ranks. Matt ultimately calls himself "Glandus trash" for being unable to escape from under his former friend's thumb.
    • Heck, hearing that the principal of Glandus High encourages this kind of behavior makes you wonder just how many students get seriously hurt trying to be the school's very best.
  • As it turns out, Jenny had forced Perry to fall in love with her through illegal love potions ever since they were students, and by the time Perry had caught on, they'd already had Gus forcing him to stay with her. When the truth was discovered, she abandoned them and disappeared, convincing Gus she never cared about him after he was told the truth.
    • A Flashback reveals that when Jenny left, she actually left Gus home alone until his neighbors saw him on the front steps of his house hours later.
  • Though unintentional on Eve's part, she becomes the latest obstacle in Luz building a portal to the human realm after taking Philip's journal to examine herself.
  • Granted Bria is a bitch, but there's a lot wrong with leaving her to suffer a brutal beating at Tito's hands (or rather, feet). And there's no telling what's in store for Gavin and Angmar.

Chapter 53: Whatever Happened to Anu Bist?
  • It's only hinted at but considering her mom's seeing someone else, Viney's implied to have lost her father at some point.
  • Jerbo ends up getting blackmailed by Porco into giving him one of his organic abominations just to keep Amity being nameless to himself. It seems to be a pattern for Porco, so much so that Jerbo has to regularly make him promise not to spill any of his secrets.
  • As it turns out, Anu Bist was responsible for Moses freeing the Hebrew slaves: as punishment, his father and Ms. Traveler/Mary forced him to experience being a death god as punishment. The idea of taking lives to the afterlife shocked him so much, it led to his decision to become a genie.
  • Camila reveals to Lilith that she was Barred from the Afterlife for the entire 14 year gap since her death, and seeing Luz again at the séance wasn't enough to allow her to pass on, so she assumes something's keeping her from doing so. And Lilith really hopes it isn't her needing to confess to the accident...
  • Thanks to Felicia, Amity being nameless becomes public knowledge and it's looking like a repeat of what happened in "Everything's Gone Wrong". What's worse is that when Gus calls her out on it and delivers one cathartic "Reason You Suck" Speech, Felicia threatens to have his father fired for it. They're all just lucky Amity decides to accept it.

    Chapter 54: Socket to Me
  • Centuries ago, Vanz Ator ended up in the Boiling Isles thanks to Philip Clawthorne and got turned into a vampire as a result. He lived as a Snake Oil Salesman until he tried scamming Katya's parents, who were brutally murdered soon after. It isn't clear how it happened, but it left the poor girl scared.
  • During a visit from Gus, Bo and Mattholomule, Eileen is revealed to have been almost kidnapped, which left her traumatized enough to avoid leaving her room for the last few days.
  • Hunter still feels guilty about nearly killing Lilith, gazing down to where he left a hole in her stomach when he committed the deed.
  • As it turns out, Boris joined the Bards Against the Throne to carry on the will of his aunt and Simon's mom, Delara Saltstar, who died going against Belos and the coven system.
  • Someone saw Mattholomule enter the Row residence, implying that Matt's claims about Glandus coming after Bo may not be as off the mark as Bo thought.
  • Now that Raine's become the new head of the Bard coven, Terra seems to be beginning her plan to brainwash them using the tea she gives them to supress their rebellious ways.
  • Boscha hasn't tried to get in touch with Boris since he left home. Not because she's mad he never came back, but because Nicole forbade her from trying. And even if she wanted to now, she's positive he'd be disgusted with her for her recent actions.
    • Then when Boscha actually does go see Boris when he's closing up shop, she's ready to let hell loose on him for leaving her behind, only to break down crying. No matter how angry she was, she still missed him and didn't want to treat him like Nicole would.
  • Jon de Plume has not had the best of luck since Piniet died. After failing another job interview, he gets kidnapped by the same guys who failed to kidnap Eileen. And it turns out the Boss (one of the guys running Glandus) is partially behind it.

    Chapter 55: Deserve Nothing
  • Luz ends up getting repeatedly kicked to the ground all day:
    • Despite having a long term goal, none of the palismen want to bond with her, sensing something's wrong. They proceed to act hostile towards her even though she's known them for 6 years.
      • This ends up affecting her worse than it did in canon; a witch's staff pretty much embodies becoming a fully fledged witch, and Eda reveals that she's been dreaming of having one for a long time. So to be flat out rejected after waiting so long just to get the chance to gain a partner for it means Luz is devastated regardless of how strong she tried to look.
    • Thanks to Kikimora's hand dragon crashing the Golden Guard's airship which causes Maya, the crab palisman, to be severely damaged, Luz attempts to help her only to unwillingly absorb her essence and destroy her all while hearing a voice telling her to devour her. The shock of this causes Luz to pass out horrified and leaves her unable to avoid getting captured by Kikimora.
    • Upon hearing Hunter confess that he's the Golden Guard, that his uncle's Belos and seeing him restrain Amity so he can take the palismen, Luz starts fighting him before winning and severing their friendship. She also doesn't take it lightly that he bugged her home as it means he's long betrayed her trust by violating her family's privacy, crushing the Rusty Smidge in her hand.
    • Not only does she reject the palistrom wood Eda, King and Lilith just stole for her, she gives it up to the Bat Queen (who came to the Owl House to attack her for killing Maya), agreeing with her claim that she will never be worthy of having her own palisman. It's clear (and confirmed next chapter) that she doesn't trust herself around them anymore.
      • The fact that it took a complete accident for the Bat Queen to say that, while demonstrating how seriously she takes her duty of protecting palisman, to someone she'd known for years shows how hurt she is over Maya's death. It makes her consider canceling Palisman Adoption Day altogether.
  • Hunter also gets a bit of grief in this chapter:
    • The chapter opens up on Hunter running through the destroyed Emperor's castle and finding the dead bodies of Edric, Luz and everyone else lying around. He's then cornered by whatever killed them and is about to be killed as well, only to turn out he's dreaming.
    • While on duty taking the palismen to the castle, he tries to refrain from fighting Luz on his airship. Trouble is, she wants to fight and she keeps bringing up his attempt on Lilith's life calling him a murderer like Belos.
    • Without any evidence to support his statements about everything Belos told him, Luz refuses to trust him anymore after he reveals his dual identity. After she ends their friendship, Amity slaps and decks him in vengeance for leading Edric on and almost killing Lilith. The girls leave him alone as they take the palismen nest back to Hexside, Hunter crying in regret.
  • After examining the drone, Belos comes to believe the one who sent it (Director Gates) is planning to start a war with the Boiling Isles. He uses it to convince the coven heads that it's enough reason to make sure the Day of Unity is successful.
  • Eda has a nightmare about her mugging, but what's worse, it seems someone saved her... someone who soon seemed to be covered in claw marks and blood.
  • The reason Eda rejects Lilith's offer to supervise Palisman Adoption Day in her place is because Lilith's a controversial figure at Hexside due to her deal with Amity being revealed. The fact that she almost forgot about it may imply she hoped everyone there actually did.
  • Since she doesn't know what she wants for her future, Amity is left out of receiving a palisman.
  • Because she's still in the detention track, Boscha is barred from getting a palisman and thus, doesn't bond with Maya. Luckily, Athena makes sure she still gets one.
  • It really says a lot about Eda when she accidentally confirms she doesn't really know anything about Morton despite him being her apothecary for years.
  • Bria's been reported missing since her last appearance, and we're given no indication on what happened to Gavin and Angmar.
  • Camila has a nightmare showing the last time she saw her husband before he died, then the night she died. For the former, she tries to stop him from leaving, but what happened can't be stopped.
  • At Craig's suggestion, Nicole decides to transfer Boscha to Glandus High without even asking her if she's okay with it. It's also clear she's doing it despite Athena obviously being against it.
  • After Luz and Amity explain the truth about Hunter to the rest of the Owl House, everyone realizes just how much Belos has been playing them for saps, not to mention how he might have been keeping tabs on Blight Manor and knows about Raine's treachery.
  • The guy who's been locked up close by Webstor is revealed to be Ludo Avarius, who's gone stark-raving mad because, as he reveals, the mechanical creature Hunter saw in the Weird Sisters' vision is the same one that destroyed Ludo's homeworld, Mewni. Ludo breaks down Laughing Mad in Broken Tears as he remembers how his entire family was killed by that monstrosity.

    Chapter 56: Going Through Changes
  • As a Flashback shows, Luz heard The Voice she heard the previous night before, around the same time she started seeing Otabin as her imaginary friend, suggesting an uneasy connection.
  • Eda takes full responsibility for the Emperor knowing about Raine and Camila, saying that it happened all because she let Hunter into her home.
  • Because Amity told him about what she learned last night, Edric dumps Hunter for deceiving him on top of everything else he's done as the Golden Guard, devastated that Hunter betrayed his trust and put both his family and Luz's in peril.
  • Deserving as it was, Kikimora being demoted to coven scout and threatened with death at Belos' hands for trying to kill Hunter clashes with the Broken Tears she sheds as she's left begging for another chance.
  • As Eda reveals to Ms. Traveler, she ended up killing a human girl her age after transforming into the Owl Beast. She never told Luz and King about it and everything that's happening now is forcing those memories back up to the surface.
  • Given Willow and Skara's conversation before Boscha talks to them, they're also aware of Hunter's deception and are feeling just as betrayed.
  • Having become despondent, Luz convinces herself that she's turning out as horrific as Belos is. Lilith, in response to this, decides to come clean with accidentally taking Camila's life believing that since she doesn't deserve Luz's forgiveness, she should be angry at someone other than herself, even if it means she'll hate her.
  • Boscha's first day at Glandus showcases just how psychotic the school is given how starting knife fights, shooting students that under-qualify according to the school's standards out of a cannon & students and teachers regularly injuring each other is normal. And when placed in a position to ascend the hierarchy by attacking an injured and helpless Angmar, Boscha refuses due to her Character Development, which is used against her as the top students gang up on her, all while Principal McScream records everything to pitch as a reality show.
  • As if the Bat Queen's hatred towards Luz wasn't harsh enough, she and Ghost show themselves to consider Lilith a threat and a disgrace to the Clawthorne family because she helped Belos claim several palisman and overharvested the palistrom trees to treat his condition. Lilith is inclined to agree since it's another thing she turned a blind eye to to try and get Belos to cure Eda and protect her position.
  • Amity informing the Bat Queen of what happened that led to Maya's death, coupled with Flapjack's own guilt -laden testimony, won't get her to budge and take back what she said to Luz.
  • A look into the past reveals that Flapjack and Ghost are old friends with each other and Philip Clawthorne. Sadly, said friendship was fractured when Ghost saw Philip consume a palisman's essence and ran away, leaving Philip crying that he lost another companion.
  • True to form, Odalia has become seriously wasted after too much drinking. After coming to search Blight Manor for the bug, Eda gives her a very long, detailed "Reason You Suck" Speech about how mad she is that Odalia kept trying to force Amity to conform to her standards and being a bad mother in general. She caps it off by saying it's Odalia's fault that her children hate her which causes her to cry knowing Eda's right. It also causes her to remember something; her own hatred for her parents.
  • Felicia is revealed to have been forcibly transferred so her mom, Felicity, could get exclusives on Luz. Felicia admits that she had to leave her friends and her mother clearly extorts her to get a story or face walking home.
  • Miss Heinous/Meteora Butterfly is shown to be a fae working for Oberon, and there's no hints as to how or why or if she is aware of her past life.
  • If what Capt. Hook says is true, then winged creatures set Neverland ablaze and wiped out its inhabitants.

    Chapter 57: No Big Deal
  • Seven years ago Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu found the Calamity Box as kindergardeners and ended up in Amphibia separated from their parents. Each girl had to adapt to their new world and while Anne and Marcy grew up with caring adoptive families, Sasha had it harder living under Grime and became more ruthless which eventually caused a fallout between her friends.
    • Said fallout turned out to be the result of Sasha and the toad army kidnapping Marcy (now King Andrias' adoptive daughter and thus the Princess of Amphibia, and by this point Anne's girlfriend) and trying to kill Hop Pop for being the face of the rebellion in Frog Valley.
    • Upon claiming the music box, Sasha announces that she's convinced there's nothing left for her back on Earth and decides to conquer Amphibia, using the box as a bargaining chip. She doesn't even bring up her parents...
    • ...as for Anne and Marcy, they've been trying not to think about their parents because they don't want to imagine how terrified they must have been since they disappeared or if they've given up hope.
      • There's also the fact that upon hearing Marcy's the adopted daughter of King Andrias, the Clawthornes are quick to suspect he's no different from Emperor Belos. Marcy's response?
Marcy: Oh, don't worry. Dad's not evil.
      • Later, it's revealed that Anne was recognized as a Plantar by the whole family, including Sprig and Polly's parents. Imagine how she felt after the heron attack that took those two away.
  • The Pines twins have a lot of emotional problems on their plate by now. It results in them distancing from each other until they clear the air:
    • Mabel spends the entire chapter refusing to open up about Bill possessing her (and getting defensive about the scar he left on her hand) to the point that she volunteers to have her memory of it erased by Blind Ivan.
    • Dipper on the other hand takes full blame for it and has a bit of an identity crisis, calling himself an idiot for trusting Bill for so many years.
  • To Luz's shock, the Museum of Supernatural History's fae exhibit features a mural of Belos killing Puck. Pushing propaganda is one thing, but that's just wrong and disrespectful.
  • Steve being a Hopeless Suitor who sees Lilith as The One That Got Away. It's harder to see him feel dejected when Hooty declares himself Lilith's best friend.
  • Toby Determined has some self-image issues, given that he was terrified when Vee transformed into him.
  • Stan told Dipper about his fallout with his twin. What Dipper doesn't know is that Stan lied and said Stanley died in a car crash. We have no choice but to wait for the truth to be revealed.
  • Canon-GF never revealed what happened to Wendy's mom; here, she turns out to have died.
  • In a very cruel Call-Forward, Marcy has a nightmare about her drowning as Anne, Sasha and Andrias do nothing to help her before she sees orange eyes and hear a strange voice telling her to forget her friend. And she's had this nightmare before, too...

Chapter 58: The Ballad of Eda (Part 1)
  • A flashback opening leads up to Eda's mugging, showing that she was Bound and Gagged and nearly raped by four teenage guys. After Angel Sinclair (the girl Eda accidentally killed) deals with them, Eda's shown shivering on her knees.
  • Only a day has passed and it's blatantly clear that Luz and Lilith are uncomfortable being alone together for too long now that the truth about Camila has been revealed to the young human.
  • The reason Amity's competing with King in the Gland Prix is because Luz doesn't want to risk devouring Owlbert's essence. The palisman saying he's not afraid of her or holding her accountable, but it doesn't curb her guilt.
  • Doubling as heartwarming, Camila had hoped she and her husband could have more kids, a sad, unfuffilled wish due to his death.
  • As it turns out, Darius had to choose between his career as a coven head over his wife and son, and ended up divorcing his wife while barely getting to see his son. And as much as he wants to be a father for him now, he fears that bridge is too burnt to cross.
  • Tom finally explains to Boscha what happened on Mewni; Mewman bigotry towards monsters got so severe that it led to a war nobody won and led to his parents making him escape so he wouldn't die. Tom mentions that a girl he knew tried to stop said bigotry but failed and after seeing how witches and demons got along, he realized she was right.
    • And of course it gets worse: whatever Ludo saw before he escaped that was devastating enough that it put the very fabric of Mewni's reality at risk.
  • Angel doesn't have much of a good life on Earth, with the implications were that she was regularly subjected to bullying on top of her own mother never listening to her, actually defending the guys who jumped Eda and demanding Angel apologize to them.
  • Geist admits he and Odalia were close, but drifted apart over the years:. That's something that can happen to the closest of siblings.
  • As Eda learns from Perry, Emperor Belos intends to weaponize Luz for his war against the human realm which begins on the Day of Unity. Whether Belos has a valid reason to suspect someone's trying to engage an attack on the Demon Realm or not, he's still preparing to harm his own species and he wants to force Luz to do the same.
  • While performing for Raine, Eda's magic creates an illusion of Angel that rots and triggers a memory of Angel lying on the ground covered in blood.
  • The Gates Family is shown to own Gravesfield (now Gatesfield) and rule it with an iron fist, the siblings Abigail and Joseph being Angel's main tormentors. How does their family own the town? They learned their ancestor, witch hunter Gabriel Belmont "G.B." Gates, once lived in it and use it as an excuse to be assholes.

Chapter 59: The Ballad of Eda (Part 2)
  • After learning about G.B. Gates, Eda feared being hunted down and panicked when a kid saw her ears, worrying Angel would feel the same way.
  • Emily Tricks confesses to vandalizing the Owl House with her girlfriend, Stella Northstar, to Luz, Amity and King because she knows nobody besides the people they know will care since the rest of the Boiling Isles doesn't hold Eda in high regards. The worst part is they don't counter her point, implying they know she's right.
  • Throughout the Gland Prix Felicity forces her daughter Felicia to follow her orders, preventing her from seeing her friends for the sake of boosting her viewership.
  • Cain is shown to be so busy that he hasn't been home in a while. In fact, his calling Simon to inform him about Boscha's injuries was the first time in a while he's done so, and Simon goes into a tangent about Delara being disappointed in Cain for putting status over family, which cuts deep.
  • Boris has learned what happened to Delara but given his hesitation, he isn't sure the Saltstar brothers can handle it.
  • While it was touching, the fact that Amity called Eda "mom" shows she no longer holds Lilith in that regard, reminding us how fractured their relationship got and still is.
  • A woman Luz initially sits next to before the Gland Prix starts is arguing with her son's father who was unable to attend due to business. Keep this mother in mind, since you learn who she and her son are later...
  • The BAT's get ambushed by the Coven Heads with several of their members dying rather than getting arrested. When the Owl House crew sees the post-battle damage, Eda sadly admits they just took a heavy loss.
    • Levi and Goonla are arrested, their ship sunk and Levi's sister left abandoned. Luckily, Goonla hid her where Amity would find her later.
    • Witch Rick, after watching Boiling Isles Bird Person get killed and being forced to leave Squanchy behind, escapes and heads home only to find his family, the Witch Smiths, being arrested just for their association with him. Refusing to lose them to petrification, he turns himself in in exchange for their release, knowing he's going to die.
    • Eda gives Perry a chance to escape capture but when he arrives home, he finds Terra Snapdragon waiting to bring him in. Terra leaves a note for Gus saying Perry's left for an assignment and telling him to stay at Willow's house, leaving him none the wiser about the truth.
  • Gavin intentionally knocks himself and Louis out of the race on Emily's orders. Mattholomule quickly figures it out.
  • Tres, the BAT who holds a grudge against Lilith, is revealed to be one of the escaped basilisks with his hatred stemming from Lilith heading the revivalization of his kind. Since she did nothing to help them, he's vowed to kill her in cold vengeance but hesitates when she admits she deserves his hatred and escapes.
    • During a flashback, Lilith remembers seeing Vee cry and the Greater Basilisk screaming in pain as they were also experimented on.
  • To Eda's shock and horror, Raine betrays the BAT's and after witnessing them turning in Boris after knocking him out, she angrily confronts them and is told they're a sleeper agent helping Belos with their rebelling a cover to capture the BAT's. Eda refuses to believe any of it and has a panic attack that causes her to slash at Raine's arm with a talon. When Eda is restrained by Raine, she pictures Angel without half her face and missing an arm.
  • Amity ends up panicking during her fight with Darius, her past trauma causing a power boost that helps her subdue Darius, but causes him great pain. If it wasn't for her shadow making her see the photo of Darius' family, she knows what she would've done if she didn't stop.
  • Angel admited to Eda that she developed Borderline Personality Disorder due to being expected to be a saint like her namesake, regularly having explosive mood swings that made her a pariah in Gatesfield. Upon learning Eda was a witch, she doesn't hesitate to ask her to bring her to the Demon Realm so she can escape it.
    • It's also confirmed that Angel's disorder causes her to fear Eda might abandon her (hence her persistence in convincing her to take her) and creates insecurity over her identity.
  • Graye goes to regroup with Raine, Darius and Eberwolf only to find Eber in the fetal position surrounded by stains of purple and red goo, which a scout identifies as Darius. As for Raine, they've been captured by the attacker, the Inner Demon possessing the Shapeshifter, who intends to use Raine as leverage against the Clawthornes.
  • Hunter's near-panic attack upon learning Darius was killed is hard to read.
  • Vanz Ator gets a mirror call from Hekapoo, who's currently in a wasteland with someone, only for Grimhilde, the Evil Queen and the slave of the Magic Mirror, to cut off the call and their forced allegiance to Vanz, unleashing Bloody Mary on him.
  • To the mass shock of everyone watching Emily's interview, she not only announces she was a victim of the Boiling Zit Incident and abandoned by her parents, she declares all-out war between Hexside and Glandus High, with the motive of conquering Hexside and reclaiming its grounds for Glandus. How's that for a Mid-Season Twist?

Chapter 60: Prelude to War (Part 1)
  • Things do not start off well; Luz attempts a breakout at the conformatorium alone to free the Bards Against the Throne, and gets easily caught and restrained by Emperor Belos. He then has her sent home, where a (rightfully) panicking Eda grounds her for doing something so stupid (and which she forbid her from doing, no less), one of the conditions to it being she's not allowed to see Amity until further notice and goes to great lengths to uphold said condition.
  • Having captured the basilisk Megan/Number 1, Nicole crosses the line of cruelty by discarding her as a person, but nothing more than her company's property as she proceeds to order several painful tests on her.
  • Emily's shown to be very domineering towards Stella in their relationship, taking even the smallest of mistakes as signs that Stella's intentionally trying to hurt her. It's very unnerving and shows how one-sided things are between them.
  • Boscha attempts to ditch school to get away from the war for a day only to get cornered by Nina. She remembers the girl's smile when she mauled her and runs only to get caught. When she gets to school, she sees a lot of students glaring at her because she's a former Hexside student with the words "Dead Meat" spray-painted on her locker. Looks like no one trusts her to side with them in the war.
  • Now that people know Luz was part of the slayground/boiling zit incident, several Hexside students blame her for being the cause of the war. As the day goes on, she slowly starts to believe it and adds her win against Bangles on top of it, claiming it made things worse until Ms. Traveler tells her otherwise.
  • Luz's "Reason You Suck" Speech towards Elliot perfectly sums up how disappointed she is that he would give up his real friends just to save face and become Horace's crony.
  • Seeing Luz without Amity for a change, Edric and Emira become worried that they're having issues in their relationship again. It doubles as heartwarming because they're worring over their sister's well-being.
  • One of Felicia's ghosts managed to film what attacked Raine, Darius and Eberwolf, and it shows every second of the creature tearing Darius limb from limb.
  • Darius' funeral.
    • Gavin is revealed to be Darius' estranged son, and he's devastated that he lost his father.
    • To Lilith's anger Belos blames Darius' death on wild witches, essentially blaming people like her family.
    • As flashbacks show, the reason Alador and Darius stopped being friends was because Arthur and Destiny sabotaged their friendship. They had Darius' parents arrested for a crime they framed them for and told them that Alador tipped off the Emperor's Coven. It led to Darius breaking off their friendship and when Alador confronted his parents, they forced him to fall in line or else Darius would be imprisoned as well, perfectly replicating how he and Odalia made Amity cut ties with Willow.
      • Even worse, it's implied by Sir William in Lilith's flashback to Darius becoming the Abomination coven head that his parents likely didn't survive.
    • Hunter considers consoling Gavin and his mother, but doesn't know what to say to them and if he'd just make things worse. Not like he's doing much better; Darius pretty much watched him grow up and has always been the shoulder he cried on. Now that he's gone, he feels like he lost the father figure he had for so long.
    • Alador keeps his distance from Odalia for the entire service and ends up leaving while brushing off her attempt to comfort him. Worse, Felicity sees this and it's guaranteed that she'll be trying to look into it.
  • It really shows how much faith everyone has in winning the war when the seniors turn out to have chickened out by graduating early and leaving for an undeserving vacation. This is one of the many reasons Gus starts to lose hope, along with Luz getting blamed for causing the war.
  • Principal Bump asks Headmistress Midday for help but she refuses to protect her own students.
  • Grimhilde seems to be starting to make plans for Eda with an evil smile on her face.

Chapter 61: Prelude to War (Part 2)
  • While Sandra has good intentions, her initial refusal to let Mattholomule participate in the school war puts them at odds as she tried to convince him to abandon his friends when they need him most.
  • The Fangs family are displayed as very caring towards everyone in their clan. However, they all fail to see that Nina's the only one who finds them all irritating and hates the civilized lifestyle they've become accustomed to, instead prefering their primal ancestry.
  • When Alador comes to apologize for never being around for his children, Emira coldly rejects it, pointing out how an apology won't make up the years of neglect he and Odalia put their children through, blaming him for making her spend her childhood raising Edric and Amity before storming out.
    • Emira's soon revealed to be more insecure than she lets on: she had a smoking habit she briefly relapses into, she's afraid she'll end up alone, and she resents herself for how she treated Amity for all these years. It's worse when it turns out Amity tried smoking herself in an effort to be like Em who threatened her for stealing from her and starting a fire by accident, along with resenting her sister herself for how their parents took pride in her and her bringing a sick Amity to the park while she was sick, which nearly led to her dying from her fever.
  • Things initially didn't look good at the pep rally Hexside's holding to instill courage in the students for the war, one of them constantly saying they're all gonna die. Luckily Willow quickly turns it around after taking command.
  • Although their uncertainty is clear, Alador and Calypso both accept the titles of "Head Witch" for the Abomination and Beast Keeping covens since it's the only way to get Amity and Skara pardoned for their recent public acts of treason and chaos, respectively. It's mostly due to the implications of what any other replacements will do to them.
  • Getting picked on by Ruth in her potions class makes Boscha remember that she acted no different back at Hexside.
  • During the interview with Felicity Fox, Emira claims that Odalia will be thrilled that her husband being coven head will bring more publicity to Blight Industries. In reality, Odalia's panicking and drinking apple blood because she isn't comfortable with this and it intensifies when Felicity asks Alador if he and Odalia are going to get divorced, all while Emira hopes that happens.
  • Emily shows she'll do anything to succeed in the war, not caring about the personal well-being of her fellow students when she orders Cain to give all their Construction and Abomination track students double the power glyphs despite Cain's warnings of the danger that possesses.
  • Belos may have managed to resist consuming Flapjack's essence, but deep down he can't help but think that the palisman returned partially to remind him he's the reason William (his first owner and carver) is gone.
  • Ever since the Slayground incident, Luz and Eda actively avoided going back to the place in question over the years as Luz always broke down crying whenever they passed by it. Her attempt to face those memories ends the same way; Eda on the only hand, wasn't just affected by this, but sees what happened to Angel in Gatesfield as her "Slayground incident".
  • Seeing Luz at the slayground, Emily siezes the opportunity to tempt her with a deal to end the war if Luz beats her in a hand-to-hand duel without her cambion form. It quickly becomes clear that Emily just wanted to make it clear that she's more combat-oriented, savagely beating Luz to the point of nearly killing her. Had it not been for Boscha's interference, she probably would've.
  • We're shown another glimpse of how dominant Emily is over Stella, dragging her away after the duel if called off and blaming her for not stopping the kid who threw the rock at Luz.
  • Belos fears that letting Hunter keep Flapjack will result in the boy eventually learning that he's a clone of his brother. Unlike canon, Belos does love Hunter and see him as family and his own person but worries that telling the truth will cause Hunter to turn on his uncle.
  • Attacking Emily puts Boscha into panic mode as she's terrified of how she'll respond the next day. When Boscha calls Ms. Traveler, she can't hold back her tears.
  • Camila is also terrified when she sees her daughter with a broken nose and several bruises that she got in a fight.
  • Something attacks Darius and William after appearing to them in the form of Caleb, and it seems to be the embodiment of The Voice that Luz and Belos have been hearing, intending to consume the former two.

Chapter 62: Prelude to War (Part 3)
  • Delara Saltstar is finally introduced through flashbacks, and it's devastating. She gets visions of the winged creatures that attacked Mewni and Neverland invading the Boiling Isles and later dies from the Red Death.
    • Cain's reason for getting stronger is a combined result of him being a crybaby as a kid whenever he lost to Simon and his way of coping with losing his mother.
  • Camila has every right to be scared about Luz fighting in the war but to hear her say Luz isn't a witch, along with Eda's immediate anger to never say that again, shows that she had the same mindset as Lilith did in the previous book; she thought Luz was chasing a pointless dream. Luckily, Luz bringing her to Hexside helps her see why she's fighting.
  • Under Oberon's orders, Ms. Heinous plans to use the war to kill Luz and Amity and instructs Nina to make sure they aren't at Hexside to ensure it.
  • Throughout the chapter, several main characters can see how submissive Stella is to Emily, Boscha even asking why she doesn't put her own needs first. A flashback reveals that Stella once attempted to run away from Emily only to be captured by Nina and brought back to her.
  • The Flashback to Boscha's 10th birthday shows Nicole making a scene over Delara and Samwitch bringing a present from Boris, openly announcing he's not part of her family anymore and he doesn't have any reason to be part of Boscha's life, then attacks Delara's goal to make life better for wild witches. This angers Delara into leaving after she yells at Nicole.
  • Felicia finds, much to her shock, that her mother refuses to let her even finish asking if she could skip the war, Felicity prioritizing the exclusive footage her daughter could get over her safety. Felicity then orders Felicia to bug Ms. Traveler's office so she can get incriminating evidence for Nicole to get her fired, only for Felicia to get caught.
  • The entirety of the plot at St. Epiderm stings:
    • A few students at St. Epiderm agree with Headmistress Midday and would rather stay out of the war than help Hexside. However, Tyrone warns his friends that if Hexside does lose, nothing would stop Glandus High from attacking them afterwards.
    • Seeing Cain among the Top Students who've come to talk to Headmistress Midday, Beck greets him. However, he ignores her since she now looks just like their mother and as we discover later on, he can't handle it.

Luz Clawthorne's Sidetrack: The Pride Special! A Skarlow Date To Remember!
  • Boscha tried to show Skara how she felt about her by giving Skara her First Kiss. When she didn't feel anything, Boscha brushed it off in front of her friends, but she decided to sleep alone with a saddened expression.

Chapter 63: The Glandus War: The Invasion
  • The way things are looking in the war, of course things would end on the most painful scene imaginable: Emily impaling Luz with her sword, then bragging that Luz is going to lose everything and everyone she loves before she passes out from blood loss.

Chapter 64: The Glandus War: Turning Point
  • Angel's death. Eda was on the verge of death at the hands of Director Gates' troops and transformed into the Owl Beast, and upon seeing Angel fighting Abigail, it mixed up the girls and killed Angel by mistake. It led to Eda fleeing from Gatesfield for good.

Chapter 65: The Glandus War: Masks Off
  • The chapter's Downer Beginning shows Emily surviving on rats after months of living alone nine years ago. Craig and the Producer found her and had to tell her her parents were petrified for being wild witches trying to escape their fates, which left her in tears.

Chapter 66: The Glandus War: What Is It Good For
  • Boscha tells Athena about what happened to Boris and she does not take it well, breaking down crying in regret over not putting her foot down sooner.

    Chapter 68: Understanding Odalia

  • In a Bad Future, Amity has been petrified, along with the Clawthorne sisters. Luz's fate is unknown, but Odalia assumes that she didn't make it.

    Chapter 86: Closing the Gates
  • Gus P. doesn't react with his usual glee about humanity when he meets Gus G. for the first time. After everything he had to endure in the last few hours (namely Michael telling him he killed Vaggie, only for him to kill Michael in retaliation), Gus P. is so emotionally burnt out that meeting another Gus barely does anything for him.
  • Stan getting arrested for his crimes, including nearly destroying reality just to bring Ford back to Earth. While he did succeed in his 30-year long goal, he's now being taken away from Dipper and Mabel, his business is shut down, and (at the time) the Clawthornes were ticked that he took such a big gamble. Dipper breaks down crying over the event in question and asks Powers and Trigger for a chance to say goodbye, which they allow.

Chapter 87: A Tale of Two Palismen

Chapter 88: The Return of the Witches

Chapter 89: The Obligatory Beach Day!

    Chapter 90: The Steve Chapter

    Chapter 91: Fairly God-Witches

  • By the end of the chapter the Blight family has been cleaved apart and worse for wear. Alador is further manipulated by his parents and Gibson; Amity is left guilt-ridden about what Edric said to her about having all their parents' attention; Edric is now being emotionally manipulated by Mel (who orchestrated his alienating himself); and Odalia, now forced to take her pre-marital name Grunhar and move into her childhood home, cries alone after being humiliated in the trial.

Chapter 97: Those Gravity Falls Kids
  • Wendy, fresh off her mother's death, went to the Mystery Shack to ask Stan for a Crystal Ball in order to speak to her. It's just as sweet as it is heartbreaking.
