  • "The Last Bounty Hunter" story from DC Special 16. Presented as the "last Jonah Hex story", it shows an elderly Jonah in his twilight years gunned down in a game of cards with his corpse then captured by a circus ring leader to be used for a gaudy traveling Wild West show. The story then flashing over the decades of Jonah's body being forgotten in various backrooms and warehouses across the U.S. until finally getting put on display in a Wild West Amusement Park, with no one even knowing he's a corpse by that point.

  • "The Great Silence" from Jonah Hex (2005):
    • Issue 50 of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Grey's run, has probably some of the hardest hitting moments in Jonah Hex, or D.C. Comics, history. With Jonah losing a child he didn't even know he had and ending his relationship with Tallulah Black on account of it.
Hex: "This turn of events has soured me on us. Ah'll save the child but from here on out. We're done as friends an' lovers."
    • Also a tearjerker for Tallulah Black in the same issue. Genuinely wanting to move from her past and career as a bounty hunter, having a child and seemingly a suitable father with the sheriff from the town she setup in, only for a religious fanatic to kill her child and as a result end her relationship with Jonah.
