Tear Jerker / Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

As a moments page, spoilers are off.

  • Fuse dealing with the young girl in the initial conflict. He aims a gun at her, tells her not to pull her satchel charge... and she does. All Fuse can do is ask "Why?" before the rest of his allies arrive and she blows herself to pieces. He survives, but he's never quite the same.
  • Any of the many sequences which feature Fuse in his depression can tug at the heartstrings. He's generally so broken by his entire life, and the little hope he has keeps fading.
  • Fuse's failure during the training exercise. He sees the girl from the sewers and can't shoot, leading to his team's defeat and him being thoroughly chided for his inaction.
  • Fuse has a nightmare of Kei being torn apart by wolves and murdered by him while she says she can't come with him. It's morbid foreshadowing, but worst of all is the fact that Fuse, otherwise The Stoic, is reduced to a shrieking mess.
  • After this nightmare, Kei gets a call, and just affirms whatever the caller is saying before slumping onto her back despondently. Knowing how the film ends, it's clear that Kei is Becoming the Mask and genuinely falling for Fuse.
  • When it's revealed that Kei is completely outplayed in the sewers, she breaks down, and starts shrieking at Fuse that she wishes they had died in the museum so they could have at least been Together in Death.
  • Fuse shoots Kei, as she's tearfully quoting from Little Red Riding Hood "...and then the wolf ate up Little Red Riding Hood." Made worse by the fact that a nearby sniper lowers his gun moments later, meaning that even if Fuse had spared her she would have died anyways. The way Fuse averts his eyes and tries his best to ignore what he's doing is painful to watch.
