Tear Jerker / Gundam Build Fighters Try

• Episode 3, in a blink and you'll miss it moment, you can see the picture of Sekai and Mirai's parents...on a shrine with burning incense. While it's not outright stated, it's heavily implied that Sekai and Mirai have no parents, and may even be orphans given that no other adult are ever seen in their household.
• Episode 7 brings home, once more, how most of the characters' motivations for fighting are not just about for the fun of playing Gunpla, but because they're fighting for the people they met through it. Team FAITH's motivations, Shimon's fighting for his brother, Kouji and Goro's determination to help him even going so far as to go out kamikaze-like to take out Yuuma and Fumina, set further to Ricardo Fellini's Heroic Second Wind Leitmotif, "Allied Force," does not help matters.
  • The tears are helped along by the fact that the show plays these like actual serious sacrifices. Kouji even gets a quick smile and a Fade to White before he rings out Hoshino.
• Episode 8, Gyanko's utter defeat at the hands of G-Master, namely that she was sure the day before that this would happen, and during the battle is mocked by Yomi for thinking about Sekai. The girl needs a hug.
• Episode 9, Just when it seems Team Try Fighters has one, Shunsuke and his Mega-Shiki turn out to be still in the fight. Shunsuke gives a short Motive Rant, charges the near inert Build Burning with a finishing punch... And then fails spectacularly as it's arm shatters without doing any damage to the Build Burning. Really makes you feel sorry for Shunsuke, especially since he's not a bad guy at all.

  Shunsuke: I threw away my pride as a Builder... And I even fought with a unit that someone else built... All of it was so that I can win... So I can reach that place one more time... So that I can reach the Nationals! So that I can go there! *Mega-Shiki's fist shatters*

• In Episode 11 and 12, Yuuma going into Heroic BSoD after losing to Adou Saga for the second time and almost giving up Gunpla again. Fortunately the Meijin was able to snap him out of it.
• In Episode 18 has one for fans of the original show. China explains that Sei built the Build Burning Gundam for his "precious best friend", Reiji. The tearjerker part comes when she explains that he eventually sealed it away in the trophy, alongside his memories. In other words, in those seven years, Reiji was never able to return to fulfill their promise.
  • The intro makes it worse showing Sei's shadow locking up the trophy and gunpla, pausing for a second as if about to cry before leaving.
  • Island Wars hints at a possible happy ending for this. Reiji and Aila's daughter shows up and demonstrates that travelling from and to Arian is still possible. Also, The Stinger shows that Aila's Command Gundam, which had previously been in China's possession, has somehow been returned to her.
  • GM's Counterattack makes all of this Heartwarming in Hindsight as it turns out that Sei and Reiji did get to meet again after all. Reiji borrowed Alia's Arista to back up Sei and have that promised Gunpla Battle with him. The fact that Alia didn't come with him to get the Command Gundam, combined with the fact that Mashita's brother had an Arista as well and the Events of Island Wars means that Reiji and Alia can probably come to visit just about whenever they want.
• As horrible a person as he is, it's not hard to at least feel a little sympathy for Saga when the "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue shows him at the hospital getting his wrist checked out by a serious looking doctor. The X-ray that can be seen doesn't paint a good picture for his battling future.
