Tear Jerker / Green Lantern: Emerald Knights

• Poor Ardakian Trawl, A hapless Lantern officer on patrol and a friend of Kilowog's, is the first character we see the movie and The first of Krona's victims. At first she's flying past a sun bantering with Kilowog, And suddenly a strange portal opens up on the surface of the sun, from which a huge sinister face peers out, and then a swarm of shadow demons come tearing out. Despite the threat, Ardakian finds herself unable to marshall adequate willpower to properly defend herself or repel the entities (likely due to their antimatter nature and pretty much oozing yellow energy, causing a an aura of fear diminishing her will) and ends up horrifically eviscerated and disintegrating by them, only able to let out a terrified shriek before her head is consumed, leaving behind an arm, a leg, and globules of blood floating in space. Kilowog realizes something happened, and starts yelling her name over and over as her ring retreats back to Oa. A new character with a spunky personality and she's dead in seconds flat. Way to start a movie.
• Kilowog's story has a minor but still disquieting moment where Deegan won't let him call his pregnant wife.
  Deegan: You got only one family right now, poozer, and they're all wearing green rings.
• The revelation that Kilowog calls rookie Lanterns "poozers" because Deegan did so and it's his way of honoring his memory.
• Laira's story is a whole rollercoaster of tragedy, as she's forced to fight her own father and the battle ends with him taking his own life.
  • Adding to it is that throughout the fight, we see images play of Laira and Kentor's life prior to everything and he growing up being loved by her father. These images likely lead to him killing himself out of shame.
• Abin Sur not believing Atrocitus when he tells him that Sinestro is fated to become a universe shattering enemy of the Green Lantern Corps - the unwavering faith Abin has in his long time friend just makes the knowledge of what Sinestro eventually becomes that much harder.
