Tear Jerker / Fred Claus

  • Fred's final straw giving up his hope of being a big brother was when Nick chopped his favorite tree down, but accidentally crushed the birdhouse of his friend Chirp-Chirp who was the only one who understood him. Instead of getting upset at his brother for it, he just sadly leaves all while Nick becomes concerned for him.
  • Wanda refusing to listen to Fred's explanation after he comes home from jail.
  • Fred noticing Wanda with another guy in which he asked if she was single. This makes Fred heartbroken and hurt after seeing this.
  • Willy leaving in embarrassment feeling humiliated when he felt like he messed up impressing Charlene.
  • The argument between Fred and his family during the intervention when they think he was the one who was ruining the children's letters.
Annette: It's very simple cause it always involves the whole thing with you Fred, you cause problems.
    Nick: Sweetie.
Annette: And then you make excuses like "you're looking out for someone else"
Phyllis: Ever since he was a boy.
    • Not only that but when Wanda comes in, he starts to tell her to stay out of the argument while she gives him one as well for his selfishness.
Wanda: See, you know what? I could've said it any better, Freddie, that is what you do.
Fred: This is great, you know what Wanda? Do you me a favor, why don't you stay out of this please? Okay?
Wanda: Well I came for the intervention, your family asked me!
Fred: Don't you have a date with an older guy with real nice hair and forgot to plight his meter in?
Wanda: Have you been spying on me?
    Fred: Yes, I have.
Wanda: You've got nothing better to do?
Fred: I don't like what I've been seeing.
Wanda: If you have been spying on me properly, then you know that I... Look I can tell you what your problems Freddie? You just won't let anyone love you because you know you're not worth loving.
    • Afterwards, Fred doesn't even want to see his family anymore in which he happily says that he's glad that tomorrow is his last day of working at the North Pole, while planning to leave his family's lives forever.
Fred: You want to know what the good news is about all of this? Is that tomorrow my last day? We don't have to have therapy, therapy is for people who want to be in each other's lives. We don't have that problem. I'm going to finish my job, I'm going to be out of your lives forever.
  • Slam having an argument with the orphans in which he ends up fighting one of them when said orphan says that he will never be adopted because of his rudeness. This makes Fred realize how much his actions have caused on the people he cared about that it makes him snap into putting every naughty child on the nice list.
  • Nick and Fred's argument after the latter has labeled all of the children who were naughty as nice.
Nick: Fred! What the blazes have you done?! You marked every child as nice! Are you out of your mind?!
Fred: None of the kids seemed naughty to me, Nick.
Nick: Good grief, Fred! You really never see the ramifications of anything, do you? We literally cannot make enough presents with only three days left, we cannot deliver all of those presents. You see? It's over! Congratulations, Fred! You caused Christmas for the whole planet! Everybody! Lithuania, everywhere in Africa. The whole thing— (sputters) right down the crapper!
Fred: Blame it all on me. It's all my fault— how convenient for you.
Nick: Annette was right about you. Mom was right about you!
Fred: You know what, save it Nick! Maybe you should look at your own self first a change! You just keep stuffing your face with gingerbread, fat boy!
  • After the two fall to the ground of snow after arguing, Nick tells Fred that he must be disliking him because of how much attention he gets, with Fred denying this, but coldly gives him this:
Fred: I don't hate you, Nick. I just wish you were never born.
  • Clyde coldly firing Nick after the footage of Fred marking every naughty child from the naughty list on the nice list is exposed.
  • Nick's gift to Fred while heartwarming is also very sweet while sad when it's revealed that it is a birdhouse he made with the note, 'I'm sorry I cut down your tree'. This implies that he realized how much Fred's birdhouse meant to him because of his pet bird Chirp-Chirp.
