- Savvy viewers may have picked up when Phyllo, the elderly man who always spoke fondly of his pets, mentions that he no longer has them foreshadowing that something was not right; a few episodes later this comes to a head as it is revealed that Phyllo has been suffering from terminal cancer for the entire duration of the series and was setting up for his final departure from both worlds. Which does indeed happen before the end of the series.
- To make matters worse this occurred while Haseo was deranged due to his obsession with defeating Tri Edge resulting in several tear jerking moments as Haseo, and later Tabby, learn of the news and lament over the fact they never got to see Phyllo one last time. Anyone who has ever missed a last goodbye oppourtunity can empathize greatly.
