Tear Jerker / Dark Angel

Go To

Flushed

  • Max feeling guilty about leaving her foster sister Lucy behind with the latter's sexually abusive father as a kid. Note that we never learn what became of Lucy.

Pollo Loco

  • Max having to Mercy Kill Ben to prevent Manticore from taking him back, asking him to tell her about the Good Place and then snapping his neck mid-sentence, then cradling his body and crying.

Meow

  • Max finding Tinga in a People Jar at the end of the episode. Although Max smashes the glass, Tinga is already dead, and Lydecker (who didn't know what Renfro was up to) bursts in on them with his goons to find her cradling Tinga's body.

The Berrisford Agenda

  • The whole premise with Alec having unintentionally caused the death of Rachel, the girl he loved (he'd planted the bomb in her dad's car, then he'd told her the truth and told her to run and she'd rushed to the car to warn her father, and his Manticore handlers had detonated it with a secret second detonator), who unbeknownst to him wasn't killed instantly and has been wasting away in a coma for two years, finally passing away by the end of the episode. Especially his sobbing Love Confession at her bedside while Max watches.

Dawg Day Afternoon

  • The report of Joshua's Love Interest Annie's death coming on while Joshua, Max and Alec are watching TV, with Agent White having murdered her to frame Joshua. Also a Heartwarming Moment, since Max and Alec start wordlessly hugging the desolate Joshua from either side of him on the sofa, Alec gently resting his head on Joshua's own while Max's is on his left shoulder, and the episode ends with the image of the three of them like that.
