Chapter 7 where Kazuki has a mental breakdown over the Awful Truth of his existence.
The chapter begins with a flashback to Kazuki's beloved cat Cherish's tragic death at the hands of his sadistic foster brother, and Yuu's subsequent demise as a result of Kazuki's Raging Burst being triggered.
The Nightmare Sequence that happens later in the present where Kazuki is alone and vulnerable to his inner, self-made demons. He wakes up in cold sweat and, for the first time, feels relief when he hears the voice of Rouge in his head. However, as she reassures him that she will never leave him, Kazuki is reminded how his life will never go back to normal and he cries.
Sherbet and Axel get concerned when Kazuki begins to isolate himself in his room, and they pay him a visit to find out what's wrong, but Kazuki maintains a cheerful, dismissive demeanor. However, Kazuki's facade begins to crumble as he mentions how he has been labeled a monster his entire life. Sherbet smiles and expresses her sympathy, but he snaps at her since he is human and creatures like them can't possibly grasp how it feels. Hurt by his words, Sherbet storms off in tears with Axel following after her, leaving Kazuki alone to vent his anguish and chastise himself for being such a jerk.
All the supporting characters sacrificing themselves one by one in the Underworld Arc.
Blanc is the next causality, succumbing to Akuji's poison senbons during his fight with the demon. Blanc's body as well as Akuji's is soon discovered by the others and it was then Axel understood that the frosthound truly did deserve his sister.
Angered by Kazuki's apparent death, Sherbet and Axel charge at the demon, exposing their vulnerability to the overwhelming might of the newly-ascended Neo. A single head-tap kills them both in a flash, destroying their brains.
Ember sacrifices her own life to save Oralee's. When the demoness is being haunted by the ghosts of the former generation of purgers, Lita employs a spirit exorcism spell to transfer their souls into her own body via her Mark of the Beast brand. As black blood spewed out from every orifice on her body, Ember told Oralee that she's safe now but Oralee isn't willing to let her die and awakens as the Child of light. She then leaves the Forever-Still Space with Ember, using the magic coach to travel to where Kazuki and the others were waiting for her.
It was Rouge’s desire for her soul to be put to rest that caused the events of the Underworld Arc and when the time finally came it was both heartwarming and a Tear Jerker. Rouge manages to pull herself together and crawl a great distance despite her severely damaged body just to say farewell to Kazuki. Kazuki is distraught but Rouge convinces him that he'd be alright without her as he still has his friends. As she faded away into light, Rouge thanked Hades for giving her such a grand experience of watching over and protecting another life that she can call her own child. The last thing she sees is her parents including her brother Rey waiting for her in Elysium.
