  • Not only did Armani not know who his mother was, Artemis herself didn't know she had a son: Apollo refused to let her know since he thought she would consider Armani as a threat to the natural order - the Goddess of the Hunt is supposed to be a childless virgin - and feared she would kill her own baby to restore this order.
    • Artemis' reaction when she learns this is nothing short of heartwrenching, because her own twin didn't trust with something which was so deeply hers she would never have tried to hurt it.
    • Meanwhile, Armani spends the first book absolutely brimming with self-hatred because he thinks that his mother won't want him.
  • Apollo's children become very interested in Armani after learning he was raised by the Sun God himself, since he's their chance to know what kind of guy their dad is. Armani feels quite ashamed: he wanted to escape Apollo's slightly smothering protection, and here's an entire cabin of kids who would like nothing more than spend one single day with the god.
  • The shades sent against the Hunters. Poor Aren is reduced to a blubbering mess when she sees Zoe. And there's Artemis forced to kill Orion, again.
  • Artemis Fowl asking the goddess Artemis to tell his mother he will never come home when she has him in his clutches; certainly the goddess knows the adequate procedure, how many sisters and mothers never saw their boys come back because they irked the goddess? Artemis is horrified when the implications of transforming boys into animals when they cross her path fully sink in.
