Tear Jerker / Blood Rites

• Justine's Act of True Love, while heartwarming in a way, is also this. After learning that Thomas is probably going to kill whoever he feeds on next - and that he'll die if he doesn't feed on someone - Justine willingly offers herself up to him, despite very clearly knowing she will probably die, agreeing that she's addicted to his presence when Harry tries to stop her. And sure enough, the next day, Harry wakes up to see Thomas - with Justine nowhere in sight.
  • Furthermore, it's pretty clear that, for all of his claims of being a "predator" taking advantage of his "prey", Thomas believing that he killed Justine very clearly did a massive number on him mentally. It's later revealed that Justine did live... and that she's now wheelchair-bound and seems to have shut down mentally.
