Tear Jerker / Between Failures

• The Noodle Incident of Reggie's display stand fire loses all humor once the full account of it comes to light:
  • For starters, Reggie used to be a lot friendlier and more helpful, willing to handle floor duties for a newly-hired Brooksie while she assembled a mechanical display stand. A customer distracted her, causing her to leave several vital parts out of the assembly. Reggie offered to help install the missing pieces but since the display was a one-shot model, he was working in the dark and asked Brooksie if she had a flashlight. She didn't, but she did have a lighter. She ends up holding the lighter too close to one of the plastic internals, which dripped onto her hand. This caused her to drop her lighter, and while she and Reggie went to get a bandage, the stand continued to burn...
  • That much would be bad enough on its own, but the manager at the time had been stealing from the store, which Reggie had been aware of but hadn't done anything about, and took the opportunity to fire Reggie in an attempt to eliminate witnesses. As he was being fired all Brooksie did, all she could do, was cry, lacking the confidence to speak up for his defense, which Reggie took as a personal betrayal.
  • Cut to the next day, when loss prevention showed up, along with police, Reggie, and Reggie's aunt. The manager was led away in handcuffs and Reggie's aunt restored his employee file personally, but he never forgave the others, especially Brooksie, for not standing up for him.
• Reggie's tale of how he lost his virginity pulls overtime as a moment of Heartwarming, Awesome, and Tearjerker all at once. The Tearjerker aspect is that Reggie was, and still is, deeply in love with her; She reciprocated, but according to the man himself "[their] lives diverged that day and have been arcing away ever since."
