  • Young Suzu witnessing her mother die in an attempt to save a child from a flood. Following that, the rumors that she didn't care about her loved ones plants a seed of resentment and insecurity in Suzu, as she goes into a spiral over why her mother would risk her life for a stranger's child.
  • Suzu losing her mother affected her so badly, when she attempts to even sing out loud by her lonesome, she vomits from sheer stress, as it reminds her of her mother's passing.
  • Suzu's initial attempt at singing in the U is met with harsh criticism by petty naysayers. It all but discourages Suzu from continuing to be Belle, if not for the Angel.
  • It’s small, but when Suzu first sees her Belle avatar, she thinks that since Belle is so pretty, the AI must have been looking at Ruka.
  • The reveal that the Dragon got his bruises because he lives with an abusive father.
    • The secret is very much writing on the wall, as the Dragon doesn't like to be touched, and flinches from Belle during the dance scene. It's a very sobering indication of how he's been conditioned to expect every physical contact to be painful or even malicious.
  • There's something all too heartbreaking about watching Dragon's castle be raided by Justin and his soldiers. Nothing is sacred to these people! His roses of secrets are trampled upon, his AI creatures have been beaten for not telling where the Dragon is, and his castle is burned down, along with the portrait of his mother. Everything the Beast ever treasured in U, gone...
  • The way the children on the U cry when they hear Dragon is possibly going to be captured and Unveiled. And it doesn't help when a couple U members mock how their pleas to stop the Unveiling are pitiful.
  • The scene revealing that Dragon (Kei) and Angel (Tomo) live with an abusive father. It starts innocently enough with Tomo singing Belle's song to himself. But then his father steps into the picture, annoyed at the boy's singing, and it quickly gets dark as said-father proves to be violent and angry. Kei tries to stop it, but all he can do is shield Tomo from any potential attacks.
    • The father isn't even beating them up, and yet Kei still flinches at every word, as though expecting any one of those severe words to be followed up by an even more severe beating. One can imagine how long he's put with this abuse that he's accustomed to it in this fashion.
    • Just to drive home how hopeless Kei and Tomo's circumstance is, we see a shot of a couple U members mocking the two brothers. These people are either blatantly mocking these abused children's situation or doing nothing. This gives a whole new meaning to him being defensive about Belle "mocking" him.
    • Kei's response to Suzu wanting to "help" him and Tomo is to cynically rant about how he's heard people claim to want to "help" too many times to count. He's heard it so many times, yet their lack thereof actions have always spoken louder than their words. Between this and being mocked for the abuse by strangers on the internet, it's no wonder Kei is so distrustful towards Suzu.
    • It’s also worthy to note that he was 14. He probably couldn’t do much at his age as he soon found out the hard way.
  • Presumably, depending on one’s interpretation of the climax, Kei’s father will most likely spend the rest of his days in absolute regret for being a complete SOB to his sons given that evidence of his actions are online for all to see, including a court of law. Even though it’s likely he became a bitter person after the loss of his wife, it’s no excuse.
  • "A Million Miles Away". The sequence is so powerful that it's even on the heartwarming and awesome pages as well. First of all, the song itself is mindblowing. The first half is essentially Suzu's plea to see her mother again, which resonates with The Dragon/Kei and Angel/Tomo since they also lost their mother. Partway through, she gets overcome by emotion and has to stop. But by this point, she has driven the ENTIRE INTERNET to tears with her song and they join in to encourage her to keep going. Event the guardians of U join in by returning Suzu to her Belle avatar, which gives her the second wind needed to declare that she'll sing through the happy and sad feelings it gives her because she's sure her voice is reaching her mother.
    • There is a very short moment that reveals that Shinobu was there when Suzu witnessed her mothers death, explaining why he cares for her.
