Tear Jerker / Aria the Scarlet Ammo

• During Kinji's cat retrieval mission in Episode 2, Aria annoys him so much with her insistence to accompany him that he enters barely-paying-attention-jerkass mode to all their questions. However, one of them has a puzzled Aria asking him whether he hates her so much, only for him to automatically answer yes. Although she quickly covers her reactions, it is made clear (and later shown in Episode 5) how much that hurt her.
• Kinji visiting Aria in the hospital after the hijacked bus case. She is angry at him because he didn't show his true power (which by this point she doesn't know it is a specially activated personality) as she wanted, while he is angry at her because she expected too much of him at the mission (which hits particularly close to home given that said kind of mission is exactly why he wanted to quit). After he voices again his intention to leave the Butei school, she is left musing sadly that he might not be the partner she was looking for after all.
• At the next episode, Kinji ends up going with Aria to visit her arrested mother. Aria then reveals she used to be called a "defective Holmes" because of her inability to find a partner, unlike Sherlock and his trusty Watson. It becomes especially painful given the events of the previous.
  • Aria breaking down in tears on the street after exiting the police station, with Kinji only being able to watch.
• In Episode 5, Aria's resuscitation becomes initially funny because she characteristically mistakes Kinji for a pervert, but it then turns sour when the drug shot's side effects make Aria start a heartfelt rant about her soul pains, ending with a Madness Mantra repeat for Kinji to "simply hate her."
• In Episode 7, Aria's and Kinji's fight when he becomes skeptical of the Durandal assassin and demands her to show him a proof of his existence. Aria inherited Sherlock Holmes's intuition, only not his verbal intelligence, so she cannot please him, and she can only rant that Kinji simply doesn't trust her, just like everybody else.
