    General
  • Yuto has a genuinely terrible family life: his father is a university professor and his older brothers are doctors and lawyers, but since Yuto ended up straying from their paths to pursue music instead, he's treated with a lot of contempt and is seen as the inferior member of the family. Furthermore, his family is also mentioned to be extremely strict; he wasn’t allowed to eat snacks and junk food according to one of the trivia from ARGONAVIS official account during the anime’s airing, and from his card story in “Innocent Feelings of the Bygone Days” event, he had to restrain himself a lot as a child due to the fear of angering his parents if he accidentally made mistakes (such as breaking things).
    • In spite of his generally cheerful and Hot-Blooded nature, Yuto has poor self-esteem as a result of his family's emotional abuse. Not only does he believe he has poor guitar skills, he believes that he's responsible for the disbandment of his original band from his high school days. This leads to him (temporarily) quitting Argonavis in Episode 6 of the anime, with his reasoning being that he believes he'd only end up dragging them down.
  • Haruka's extremely toxic dynamic with Kanata. Kanata is obsessed with Haruka to insanely unhealthy degrees and will go out of his way to try and isolate him from anyone who befriends him, thus ensuring that Haruka remains friendless and allowing Kanata to keep him to himself. Additionally, Kanata just so happens to be comparatively better at everything he does, which results in Haruka being overshadowed and subject to favoritism. To top it all off, Kanata finds glee in outright emotionally abusing him to his face and gets unnervingly giddy watching him suffer, and Kanata is able to get away with all of his abuse thanks to his Bitch in Sheep's Clothing nature. All of this has resulted in Haruka developing a very low opinion of himself, and despite his seemingly antisocial nature, he has a genuine desire for friends but is mostly resigned to being alone, as he fears that being isolated by Kanata is inevitable. Poor Haruka.
  • Fujin RIZING!, despite appearing as a cheerful group on the surface, ends up having an incredibly tragic and depressing background and storyline, which involve the theme of death, grief, regrets, and the struggle of facing the reality. Fuuta's saxophone "Sakutaro" (サクタロー) turns out to be named after an actual person Sakutaro (朔太郎), Fuuta's older brother and also Kouhei's childhood best friend, who died prior to the main story due to an illness, and his death affects Fuuta and Kouhei, who have the closest connection to him, very deeply.
    • Fuuta, unable to accept his brother's death, was depressed and didn't leave his house and go to school anymore, until one day in his third year of middle school, he found his brother's saxophone, and then he started carrying it around and calling it "Sakutaro" that he completely forgot about his own brother's existence until the present time.
    • Kouhei, on the other hand, witnessed Sakutaro dying right in front of his eyes in the hospital, and after his death, he became a delinquent in high school due to his disappointment of not being able to fulfill his promises with Sakutaro to form a ska band and travel around the world together. Until one day, he noticed Fuuta's sudden change, and being reminded of Sakutaro's last words, asking him to take care of Fuuta and protect his "fun", Kouhei quit being a delinquent. Since then, he decided to fulfill Sakutaro's last wish to protect Fuuta, and he's very adamant about keeping Fuuta from remembering his brother and facing the truth not only because of him wanting to fulfill Sakutaro's last wish, but also because he's afraid of Fuuta not being able to smile once again if he learns the truth.

  • In Episode 4, when Rio, Ren and Banri are trying to invite friends and relatives to their first live show, Ren solemnly admits that he has no friends outside of Argonavis.
  • Argonavis' first live show ends up being a disappointment: everyone they invited to the show is unable to attend due to circumstances out of their control, and when they try to hand out flyers at the last minute, nobody bats an eye and they're only able to pique the interest of one person: Shintaro Mashu, GYROAXIA's manager.

Even with its lighthearted beginning, Fujin RIZING's sound-only live voice drama "longing -Negatta Mirai-" ends up being a massive tearjerker.
  • The flashback scene with Kouhei and Sakutaro in the hospital, when Sakutaro had just woken up. He told Kouhei about his dream of forming a ska band and travel around the world together with him, and Kouhei promised him that they would definitely do it someday. Then Sakutaro told him his last wish, for Kouhei to protect Fuuta's "fun", which Kouhei accepted...and then his coughing got worse. Kouhei frantically called his name and seeked for help, but unfortunately he did pass away after that.
Kouhei: Sakutaro! Are you alright? Hey, Sakutaro! Sakutaro! Nurse! Anyone! Please come quickly! Sakutaro is- Sakutaro...hang in there! Sakutaro...!
    Sakutaro: ...I’m sorry.
Kouhei: Please hang in there...Sakutaro...no...don’t leave me...Sakutaro...!
    • Even worse, in the beginning of the flashback, Kouhei told Sakutaro that Fuuta would come a bit later than usual due to the bus being delayed because of the rain, but he was on his way and would arrive soon, which means that Fuuta hadn't even arrived yet when Sakutaro was dying. This would explain the reason Fuuta has "rain" as one of his dislikes: it's not only because Sakutaro died on a rainy day, but also that the rain was what prevented him from seeing his brother during his last moment.
  • On the day of Fujin RIZING's live in Nagasaki, Fuuta noticed that Kouhei had been acting rather strange, and then he asked him about it. Kouhei told him that the day was an important day (it was an anniversary of Sakutaro's death), and then Kouhei, who had always been trying to keep him from knowing the truth, actually asked Fuuta if he knew Sakutaro. However, as he had completely forgotten about his brother, the only "Sakutaro" that Fuuta knew was his saxophone. In the end, Kouhei didn't go any further and simply had to accept that Fuuta still didn't remember anything about his brother.
  • The ending scene has Kouhei visiting Sakutaro's grave and talking about many things, from asking him about their yesterday's live, about Fujin RIZING and everyone in it doing well...and the fact that even until now, Fuuta still doesn't remember anything about him.
"You know...it still seems like Fuuta has forgotten about you. Perhaps forgetting about your existence as his brother is what’s keeping his composure. But I wonder if that’s okay for now. Even after going to Tokyo, he’s been laughing a lot more. But if he ever remembers you...I don’t know what might happen. He might never smile or laugh again...I’m scared of that. You once told me to protect Fuuta’s happiness, right? It’s been 4 years since the day we made our last promise, and I made my decision to protect him no matter what. No matter what happens, I’ll protect Fuuta’s smile. So don’t worry and keep watching over us. Okay, Sakutaro?"
