Being an optimistic telepath and empath like Anderson in the Crapsack World of Judge Dredd is a harrowing experience indeed.
- A tragic example is used to start off the Judge Anderson Comic Omnibus where a recent Christian Following under a Christian Preacher named John Baptiste who is gaining a massive following in the hopeless world and is believed by the Justice Department to be inciting a revolt. The opposite is true and the following was made with the intent to spread peace and love to the disadvantaged to the point crime had gone down by 50% where Baptiste had preached. After interrogating Baptiste, Anderson learns the value of faith, unconditional love, and hope and is changed to the point she beats up a bullying Judge, but then has to later watch with sadness and regret over refusing his offer of allegiance as the Justice Department discredits Baptiste with a fake confession of guilt and kills him to silence the movement.Anderson: We're the Judges. The Cream. The Elite. We can never tolerate a movement that unites the underclass- potentially against Us. We rule with fists of iron. We're afraid of peace and love. I can help but wishing I'd told him "YES"...
- The ending to the follow-up stories The Trip and Stone Voices. In the former, Cassandra fails to stop a terrorist bombing at the last second that costs a million people their lives and lets out a Single Tear, in the latter a demonic statue is ultimately stopped by Cassandra but she has almost nothing else to show for it with several Psi-Judges either dead or rendered insane. It ends with Cas looking in a mirror at her aging face and wondering whether Mega-City One will ever be anything but a hellhole.
