- That scene where Nash receives the pens. Dear god, there were waterfalls.
- The moment where John tells Charles, Marcie, and Parcher that he won't speak to them anymore, and says goodbye. Especially when "Baby Girl" Marcie starts to cry. During the montage that covers the next 2 decades, at one point, she approaches him with her arms outstretched for a hug, looking utterly crestfallen when he completely ignores her and walks right past her.
- Watching the film knowing the violent demise that John and Alicia eventually suffered adds a whole new level of tragedy to the whole thing.
- Young students following along behind an older Nash, mocking him behind his back as he walks toward the library.
