In a faraway fantasy kingdom, the Emperor has suddenly died. Only one problem, he has no male heirs to take the throne. However, he has a massive extended family that has many princesses in power. As a minister, you are to back one of the many princesses, each has benefits and talents that could be put to use as you seek make her the new successor to the throne.

Heart of Crown is a Deckbuilding Game that plays like Dominion expect for a twist. Before you can procure any victory point, you choose one of several princesses who are eligible for the throne. Once you do, they give advantages for you to exploit.

There is a physical version of the game, as well as a PC release through Steam, available for purchase here. The game's production was originally funded through a Kickstarter campaign by creators Japanime Digital, which can be seen here.


Tropes include:

  • Bookworm: Bergamotte's sole motivation for campaigning for the Imperial throne is to increase funding for the Imperial Research Institute.
  • Cute Witch: Lain and Shion, with fortune-telling abilities and the special power to take extra turns.
  • The Dividual: Princess Twins Laion and Shion are treated as one single candidate to back.
  • The Empire: Where the main fantasy setting takes place. However, it behaves far more like The Good Kingdom than an actual military conqueror.
  • Expansion Pack: The base game has six princesses (including The Dividual), with two expansions, one of which is included as base content in the PC release and the other as separate DLC: the Far East Territory featuring Ohka, and the Northern Enchantress featuring Anastasia.
  • Four-Star Badass: Flammaria, who is supported by the military and designed her own weapons.
  • Honorary Princess: Princess Klam-Klam is not related to the Emperor by blood, but she is a trusted merchant who know how to make money and in on good terms with Princess Bergamotte.
  • Lady of War: Princess General Flammaria, who helped the late Emperor in a war and wishes to prevent in a new one from popping up.
  • Merchant City: Ohka's home territory in the Far-East is a trading hub, with Ohka herself more focused on the exchange of fine art than actually campaigning for the Imperial throne.
  • Princess Classic: First Princess Lulunasaika, who is adored by her people and first in line for the throne.
  • Rebellious Princess: Flammaria is known for being a tomboy and defying the nobility.
  • Red Baron: Those who aren’t direct descendants of the late Emperor have these.
