- 0: The ending is exactly what anyone would predict.
- 1: The ending has a few twists, but makes sense.
- 2: The ending has some serious out of nowhere plot twists.
- 3: The ending breaks down into Mind Screw levels of plot twists, until you can't follow the plot.
- 4: The ending not just brings absurd Mind Screw plot twists, but also changes the genre into some malformed abomination, so now the characters in your romance may be talking to the ten-foot-tall king of hamsters as zombies, unicorns, space marines, and Lovecraftian horrors begin closing in.
- 5: All logic has broken down at this point, as your grounded historical fiction of medieval Europe brings in a rain of pickles, modern-day police and military, an army of explosive hamsters, castles turning into tubas, and the King singing an 80's Hair Metal ballad on the wonders of potatoes and cheeseburgers. Then, the universe turns to garlic bread, as it gets eaten by a many-eyed alien, as the residents of the kingdom escape as pickled herrings to start new universes.
