Here are the different shout-outs from the TwinBee franchise.
- The name "TwinBee" might be a shout-out to the real-life UC-1 Twin Bee (United Consultants Twin Bee), an amphibious aircraft designed by Joseph W. Gigante back in 1965.
- The first few notes of the first stage theme of the first TwinBee video game are reminiscent of the Richard Donner Superman theme. Ditto with the power-up theme.
- The melody of the first few notes of the first boss theme is reminiscent of the theme music of Jaws.
- The Scare Chord of the second boss theme is reminiscent of the "Psycho" Strings of the Psycho theme.
- The green-haired Princess Melora from Detana!! Twinbee (or Bells And Whistles) onwards looks a lot like Princess Shalala from Time Travel/Trouble Tondekeman.
- While we're at it, Light also looks a lot like Hayato Shindou (the male lead) from the Tondekeman anime as well. They both sport headbands, wear a blue shirt, and have roughly the same build and hairdo. They're also both athletes.
- Light also looks like he has the color scheme of Richter Belmont from the Konami classic, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. It's as though they're wearing the same thematic blue and white uniform, almost.
- Light and Pastel's dynamic is also reminiscent of Tondekeman's Hayato Shindou and Yumi Arama dynamic (even though in the former's case, it's without any of the Belligerent Sexual Tension due to them being cousins).
- The first stage of Detana!! Twinbee has Ghibli Hills galore that obviously reference the same hills found in Castle in the Sky.
- While we're at it, Pastel also looks a lot like famous Studio Ghibli heroine NausicaƤ of NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind fame by Hayao Miyazaki.
- The Detana!! characters of Prof. Einstein J. Cinnamon and Dr. Warumon share the same vibes and dynamic as the Dr. Light and Dr. Wily tandem from Mega Man. This on top of Prof. Cinnamon's full name being a shout-out to Albert Einstein.
