- Multiple references to Neon Genesis Evangelion are made all around the place. Included, but not limited to:
- Hans watching the End of Evangelion along with Emil, Dan, Summer and Faith.
Emil: "Was the director intoxicated when he made this?"
Dan: "No, he was very depressed and hated the concept of Otakus I think. I hear he's a lot healthier and saner these days. (...)"- In-Universe, Studio Gainax is making an anime based on the Delta Squad's misadventures.
- During the Trinity's attack to Echo-City, Vaughn makes a kinda ill-timed reference to EvAbridged.
- At some point, Samson suggested adding a Rei Ayanami's poster to Mexa-One's cockpit. Word of God suggests that he might have a certain degree of Perverse Sexual Lust for her.
- Dan's "Pixelized Sword" was created because he's (and JR Pictures) a big fan of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
- George Gdolkin and Jack Krueger are walking shout-outs to the Warhammer 40,000's mythos.
- Both are Powered Armor wearing Space Marine badasses who can kick lots of arse, both inside and outside a mech.
- They use Drop Pods to deploy new weapons and spare part for their mechs, even in the heat of the battlefield.
- George is named after an Iron Hands Iron Father named Gdolkin.
- Bjorn the Fell-Handed, one of Jack's mechs, is named after the oldest dreadnought in the service of any space marine chapter.
- Tyberos is based on the Reaver-class Titan
- Some engineer(s) working for the Marine Corps must be a/some big Mobile Suit Gundam Wing's fan(s), because they built a functional version of the Heavyarms Gundam.
- The main mech used by ground forces in the Marine Corps seems to be Zaku II's, another reference to the Gundam franchise.
- And another shout out to Gundam, The Trinity was named and colored after Team Trinity's Gundam thrones Eins, Zwei and Drei.
- During a flash-back, we see Celeste's grandpa telling her a story about a "space-girl" who fought along a "black steel giant" to defeat the "star monsters".
- Also, Bastion-Sigma's Finishing Move is basically the "Double Buster Collider".
- At some point, Celeste tries to give a Rousing Speech to Faith, which included the line: "If you don't believe in yourself, believe in me who believes in you!" The reference was not lost to the latter, who later exclaims "Who the Hell do You think I am!"
- The strange new type of energy which powers most of GeneSys' technology is dubbed as "Photo Atomic Energy". Also, all their mechs have a docking airship from which the pilot controls the machine. They're called Pilders! Yep, Dr. Reitmain is definitely a Mazinger Z fan!
- Celeste has a personal nickname and custom decal for her GeneSys' wrist-computer: Pip-Boy!
- The reason why Celeste was looking for a red scarf? To look more like a pilot from an old animated series from before the war. The man she's referring to? Ryoma Nagare from Shin Getter Robo: Armageddon
- At a critical point during the fight against the Trinity, Dan made a reference to the "Taste the Rainbow" slogan. Celeste's reaction to it?“Well... It could be... much... worse... At least... It's not... A... Rainbow... In the... Dark...”
- Emil's Epine Noir and Alphonse's DAGON are basically Armored Core NEXTs, with Epine Noir being an 04-ALICIA and DAGON being a heavily modified 03-AALIYAH respectively.
- Among the clothes that Faith keeps in her extensive wardrobe, there are outfits based on Kingdom Hearts and Disgaea.
- Prior to the battle against the Trinity, Harvey spoke the line "Time to nut up or shut up" to motivate himself.
- And talking about Harvey, he has Siri installed inside his mech. Apparently, it's more hassle than it's worth.
- Walter Kovacs and his mech Rorschach are an obvious reference to Watchmen.
- (Almost) Officially, the Eldritchians call themselves "The Hierarchy" and the one overseeing the invasion of Earth is exactly the big bad of the game in all but name.
