Mazinger Angels is full with plenty shout-outs to many Go Nagai works:
- Kouji does not shows up, but Boss, Nuke and Mucha do.
- Jun works in a place named "Mycenae Pizza".
- The Mazinger Angels make a journey to a hot springs resort in a chapter is a homage to a Mazinger Z manga chapter. Right like in that chapter, rumor has the area around the resort is haunted. Right like in that chapter, it was all a plot of Count Brocken. And right like in that chapter, a statue from Devilman was placed in the middle of the hot spring. For last, the owner of the resort is Danbei from Abashiri Ikka, Cutey Honey and UFO Robo Grendizer.
- Hikaru has a dog named Daisuke. Maria has another dog named Duke. And they are close friends.
- Minerva-X Super Mode hugely resembles Sylene.
- Sakurako Hono, the pilot of Fire Venus, is from Go Nagai's manga Iron Muscle.
- One of the members of the preceding Mazinger Angels team is Honey Kisaragi. Her mecha is even named Cutey Honey.
- Akira Fudo, Miwa Uzuki and characters of God Mazinger and Abashiri Ikka show up.
- Two female teachers of Sayaka's high school are taken from Cutey Honey and Dororon Enma-kun.
- Kikunosuke finding Energer is a HUGE shout-out to Mazinger Z's first chapter.
- The original design of Mazinger Z, Energer Z, shows up. It combines with the ship of Gattaiger, a Humongous Mecha designed by Go Nagai showed up in Uchu Enban Daisensho, a movie what he made mecha and character designs for was the inspiration for UFO Robo Grendizer.
- King Doublas resembles King Ghidorah.
- An incredibly obscure shout in the sequel happened when we got to see one of the Maria's teachers... who is the same teacher showed up in the episode 24 of Mazinger Z.
