Go To

Several of the purchasable items and their flavor text in Jetpack Joyride deliver a number of references. Shout-Outs to Age of Zombies and Monster Dash can be found on the main page's Continuity Nod section.

Other games from Halfbrick Studios

  • Fruit Ninja:
    • The Sensei's Threads and the accompanying headband is a clothing worn by Sensei, one of the main characters.
"Now take good care of this suit. It took forever to get the fruit stains out, and no way are we cleaning it again."
    • For Fruit Ninja's 5th anniversary the game introduced Cut & Run event, which has Barry (wearing aforementioned headband and threads) slicing as many fruits as possible in a time limit.
    • Ninja Mask's description mentions it being useful to hide your face in shame if you slice a bomb with a sword - something you have to avoid doing in Fruit Ninja.
    • Fruit Ninja has an achievement called "Tee Hee" - end the game with exactly 69 points. Jetpack Joyride features "Tee Hee Two": Collect 69 coins.
  • The Blast-Off Jetpack is designed like the rocket used in Halfbrick's Blast-Off.
  • The Colossatron skin for Mr. Cuddles is a 1/4 scale replica of the titular character from Colossatron: Massive World Threat. One of the unlockable daily S.A.M. rewards is General Moustache's outfit.
  • Profit Bird has the Mecha Micro skin, based on Micro the Whale from Fish Out of Water. Flash a rides mechanical version of Olympus and accomplaining clothing set from the S.A.M. challange is based on "Hard to please Harwood" - one of the crabs from that game.

Miscellaneous

  • The Twister Jetpack catches cows that occasionally spawn in the lab when equipped.
"Rated at F3 on the Fujita Scale, this jetpack is capable of relocating an entire house over the rainbow."
  • The Dinner Jacket suit has the description start with "Suit up!", one of Barney Stinson's catchphrases from How I Met Your Mother.
  • The Gravity Suit references a game called Gravity Guy.
  • The Profit Bird description notes that making a game with a bird in it makes it instantly popular, alluding to the success of Angry Birds (which the Profit Bird is often compared to) and Tiny Wings (the Profit Bird Flash uses is blue, making it look even more like the Tiny Wings bird). While Jetpack Joyride is popular too, it's less to do with the Profit Bird in this case. Even Flappy Bird gets a shout out later on, with the Zappy Bird Event. It has Barry riding bird through an infinite corridor of zappers, placed in similar fashion as pipes and getting hit by them is an instant game over, though Unlike Flappy Bird, however, you can touch floor and celling. There's also an achievement called "Angry Wings" for getting the Profit Bird twice in one run.
  • The achievement for knocking over 1000 scientists is called "For Science," and its icon resembles the logo for Aperture Science.
  • The achievement for buying two jetpacks is called James Who?
  • The Barrybox, a TARDIS-like skin for the Crazy Freaking Teleporter. It's even lampshaded in a trailer which puts the skin next to a "Doctor" costume Barry can get through the S.A.M. challenge, but only if Barrybox is already purchased.
  • Version 1.7.3's description for Magnet Man says Magnets: how do they work?
