Shout Out / Hunt Down the Freeman

Go To

  • The G-Man's greeting of Mitchell after the former was knocked out by "Gordon Freeman" is the same line addressed to the latter after his defeat of Nihilanth at the end of the first game, with the relevant details replaced.
    • He also excuses himself at the end of said speech à la the final words from him at the end of Half-Life 2.
The G-Man: In the meantime, this is where I get off...
    • In fact, most of the G-Man's lines to Mitchell are paraphrased from the main games.
  • The drill instructor's opening lines at the start of the newly-included boot camp level is an almost one-to-one duplicate of Drill Sergeant Dwight T. Barnes' quotes heard by Adrian in the beginning minutes of Opposing Force.
  • Both Mitchell and the G-Man directly quote Bane from The Dark Knight Rises near the conclusion of the plot.
You have my permission to die.
  • Colonel Cue straight-up quoting Lord Farquaad of all people after nobody wanted to step forward to escort Mitchell to the train controls.
Col. Cue: You might die! But that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
  • The shot of Mitchell killing Adam by shooting him in the head is based on a scene from Meet the Pyro.
