Grand Theft Auto Classic
- One of the eight playable characters is a guy with a mohawk named Travis.
- You find a bus parked near the station in Fort Law. There's a bomb on the bus. Once the bus goes 50 mph, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. What do you do? Also, Mission Control warns that "IT'S A TRAP!"
- The congratulations you get from Uncle Fu borrows very heavily from Dr. Klahn.
- Endeavor Chambers, with his Union Jack-painted convertible and nemesis named Hans Nemesis, is one to Austin Powers. Though, the Austin Powers franchise itself is one long Shout-Out to James Bond. A silver Aston Martin-like car, named a James Bomb, appears in a separate mission where it apparently belongs to the womanising Agent Temple, itself a nod to Simon Templar
- Two of the game's final missions involve jacking a set of Mini Coopers and a bus filled with gold. Both are shout outs to The Italian Job(which ironically later had a Licensed Game by Rockstar).
- Steal a police car, and you can hear the in-car radio chatter mention Sun Hill police station.
- The enigmatic Lord Lucan requiring you to drive him to a plastic surgeon references a certain, well, Lord Lucan, who disappeared without a trace after murdering his children's nanny. If only the in-game year wasn't too early.
- The music playing in the James Bomb car more closely resembles Henry Mancini's famous theme to Peter Gunn than the Bond theme; this may be a Shout-Out to that music's use in Spy Hunter (1983), also a top-down, mission-based driving action game.
- In the 1961 expansion pack, one of the cars exclusive to that era is the FAB with the appearance of a pink Rolls-Royce with a distinctive retro-futuristic bubble dome window. NO REALLY, take a look!!!
