  • Let's face it, Eden Sinclair is female Snake Plissken, while the film feels almost like a Whole-Plot Reference/Homage:
    • The stylized introduction is a clear reference.
    • One-eyed, hightly trained badass going on timed, suicidal mission into the enemy territory.
    • Her watch itself feels like Snake's one.
    • Anarchistic hellhole behind a tightly secured and protected wall.
    • Escaping a horde of angry cannibals with creative use of bullets.
    • Trying to locate a VIP trapped in a hell-hole.
    • Having an uneasy relation with much older cop running the show.
    • Doing the whole mission for purely personal reasons.
    • Elaborate arena fight with a Giant Mook, including shields and finished with bashing mook's brains out.
    • A local ruler styling himself as a royal.
    • The group composition is an eerie echo of Snake's pack when trying to get out of the city.
  • When Norton declares the premise safe and he's almost instantly jumped by two bikers comes as direct reference to Pitch Black
    Looks clear.
  • When in front of Kane, Sinclair is hit twice by one of his mooks. She casually ignores the beating, but then gives a stare to the mook and coldly declares to kill him if he touches her ever again. Cue the inevitable third hit and she punches the guy's nose into his brain with single hit. Just like Joe from The Last Boy Scout.
  • The film has the Gimp chained to a fence in the party cookout scene.
  • As the group moves through the storage shelter, Sterling ask if there might be the Lost Ark inside. Cue a wooden crate with the exact same numbers as the one with the Ark in it.
  • Sol is Scottish Wez.
  • The description porn of the APCs is slightly altered description of the Pursuit Special from the first Mad Max.
  • The final chase has so many shout-outs to Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, it can qualify as a Homage
    • The bad guys shooting the wrong target with their crossbow.
    • Fighting with a rider while in the same time trying to steer the car.
    • Sol/Wez dying then the vehicle carrying the main character has a head-on collision.
    • One of the cars looks like being covered with spotted leather.
    • One of the baddies driving a modified police cruiser.
  • Prime Minister Alexander Siddig has dealt with a rather ominously-named virus before, except that on that occasion, it was known as the Harvester instead of the Reaper, and it was his buddy Miles O'Brien who got infected with it instead of himself.
  • The APCs used are pretty much the ones from Damnation Alley.
  • The scene of part of the team investigating the creepy abandoned hospital while the others watch over video feeds from the APC is a clear reference to Aliens.
  • The scene where Sinclair runs down a street as a bus filled with angry cannibals gives chase is an obvious reference to The Warriors.
    • During Sol's "FUCK YOU!" speech, there's a cannibal that looks like one of the Baseball Furies.
