Naofumi's eyebrows keep raising upwards with each successive name.

- The duel between Weiss and Eclair in Chapters 44 and 45 has a massive litany of these:
- First, when comparing Weiss' Myrtenaster, she brings up Lambent Light, Radiant Light and Silvery Eternity, given Kirito being one of the past Sword Heroes, as she's gushing over its design. Additionally, it is described as being forged with Mithril.
- The first stage of the fight itself borrows elements from the Throne Room fight scene.
- In Chapter 45, we have the following:
- Weiss quotes Severus Snape in The Half-Blood Prince.Weiss: You dare use my own skill against me!?
- Eclair, however, counters with the Copypasta, actually making it look intimidating.Eclair: When you dined with the nobles, I studied the blade. While you wasted your days at tea parties in pursuit of vanity, I pursued inner strength. Who is uselesss now?
- Weiss quotes Severus Snape in The Half-Blood Prince.
- The two exchange over two dozen Sword Skills over the course of their duel.
- Eclair also invokes the White Fang Lieutenant when chokeslamming Weiss to the ground.
- When Eclair gets on the offensive, she brings to mind Darth Vader, Brosnan's Bond, and Geralt of Rivia in his duel against Renfri.
- When Zylden measures the Miracle Seed tree's mana concentration, it destroys his measuring device, meaning all he can get is that it's over 9000.
- The mutated Life Root is defeated by Malty using Mana Burn on it, thus turning it into ashes by snapping her finger.
- Mein mentions Houou from Franchise/Pokemon to analyze the aquatic theme of what the third wave has brought.
- Leeroy Jenkins is a knight of the Church of Three.
- The leaders of the exiles that founded Shiltfreeden were "a charismatic and fearless mouse mage knight, his best friends: A diligent but short-tempered duck sorcerer, and a kind but dimwitted dog knight".
- As of Chapters 44 and 45, the sheer amount of fight scene and style shoutouts during Weiss' duel against Eclair makes it a case of Reference Overdosed, as some have observed.
