Warning! All spoilers below are unmarked.

It's virtually impossible to list tropes for Shocking Elimination without spoiling everything or creating Self-Fulfilling Spoilers due to constant mention of Player Elimination.

Season 1

  • Nick. In the original version of the season, he made it to the final four before being voted out. Here, he is the third boot of the season and eliminated in Episode 4, an episode that had set up Lill as the potential boot before Alec shifted the target onto him instead. Downplayed in that many people actually predicted that Nick would be an early boot due to his lack of actions or impact in the original season despite his high placement (with the writers outright admitting that they forgot he was even there most of the time, which even became a Lampshade Hanging in his last few episodes) so that the more popular Ashley and Lill could have a better chance instead.
  • The fake double elimination of Grett and Ellie in Episode 6. Not only is it the second double elimination in a row, as well as the only pre-merge episode where contestants compete for individual immunity, but mostly because it ends with two major characters from the original Adventure Camp being slightly Demoted to Extra. Even more so since the former was one of two main antagonists and the latter was one of two finalists of the original version. Subverted ultimately as the following episode reveals they are simply switching teams instead.
  • While many fans predicted that either Fiore or Alec would be eliminated in Episode 12 to avoid their alliance having too much power in the finale as well as after Miriam's Let's Get Dangerous! confessional from the end of Episode 11, the circumstances surrounding Alec's elimination definitely count. For one, it means that for the first time ever the final three is down to one gender. For this reason (along with her already being a finalist in the beta), many expected Fiore would've been eliminated instead. Furthermore, Alec is eliminated after Fiore agrees with Miriam to let Ellie in the finale over him, stating You Have Outlived Your Usefulness among her reasons, essentially ending the plot of Alec serving as Morality Pet to Fiore to humanize her character.
  • Ellie being booted for real in the finale at 3rd place came as a shock to many who thought she and Fiore would be the final two of the season again like their beta counterparts in Adventure Camp. Here, she's tricked by Miriam who fakes suffering a heart attack. When Ellie goes to check on her, Miriam reveals the lie, grabs her shovel needed for crossing the finish line of the challenge, and is able to cross before Ellie does. Fiore takes Ellie's place in the remake as the one who drives the malfunctioning go-kart and crashes into the tree.

Season 2

  • Connor. He gets eliminated via a double elimination, which is announced last-minute and for no real reason. He also chooses to willingly quit as opposed to at least trying to get Yul voted out with the help of his teammates.
  • Lake, for several reasons. Primarly because a lot of fans saw her as the main protagonist of the season due to her being a rootable Nice Girl who has gone through a major Character Development over the course of the season and befriended most of the other players. She also almost scored the first two individual victories (excluding the non-elimination episode where the victory was shared by two contestants anyway), including being the Final Girl in a horror-themed challenge. The circumstances surrounding her elimination don't help, as a returning player, Karol, won immunity and shared it with two other contestants, switching the target for elimination. Also, Riya didn't warn Rosa Maria to use the immunity totem on Lake in order to save her and Karol joined the half of the group who voted for Lake rather than the half who voted for James in spite of her seeking revenge on him.
  • Karol, the second time at least. She's only just returned and effectively began stirring more drama, but she's eliminated via Non-Gameplay Elimination by medical evacuation in the episode following her return.
  • Ally. While not as shocking due to Love Triangle trio being targeted since the start of the merge, her elimination happens in an episode focusing on Karol trying to manipulate Riya against James and Aiden. While her ranking 6th is still a high placement, one could assume she'd go as far as to become a finalist due to her rootable Nice Girl personality, being one of creators' favorites, being involved in a romantic plot, and being one of the most frequently used characters on thumbnails.
  • Rosa Maria. Despite not receiving as much focus as other members of the Final 5, she had still had a number of fans who liked her for her sweet and motherly personality and believed she would be a finalist due to that and her having an immunity totem. She was also the only member of the Final 5 to never do anything questionable throughout the season and even in Episode 10, felt guilty over having to play dirty. Then, Riya suddenly frames her for stealing items around the camp and steals her immunity totem, ruining Rosa's friendship with her and Aiden, leaving everyone except Hunter to vote her off.

All Stars

  • Hunter. While many predicted him to be an early boot and the next member of Magenta Team eliminated after James, he's eliminated in an occasion when his team could easily have gotten rid of Fiore, with her being hated by her entire team because of her actions in Season 1, not being useful for challenges, and her Villains Alliance with Alec, Grett, Yul, Riya and Ellie having just been exposed. For the first time in a couple episodes, she had no way of manipulating the game in her favor, but she ends up surviving, with Ashley and Jake still prioritizing having a number advantage over the remaining duo on their team over reducing the numbers of the Villains' Alliance.
  • Fiore. Although she's in a bad spot since the start of the game, being Hated by All on her team, she manages to survive a couple eliminations. In spite of her unresolved plot with Alec and her involvement in the Villains Alliance, her elimination episode pulls off a huge Bait-and-Switch, suggesting until the last second that Jake would convince Ashley to vote off Ally in order to prove her loyalty to him, before revealing only after the end of the elimination ceremony that Ashley instead convinced him to vote out Fiore.
  • Tess wasn't exactly the most focused on contestant of the season but many were given the impression that she had longevity due to how much of a support role she played towards everyone else on top of wanting to help Hunter and Ally through their relationship problems. When Cyan and Yellow must head to an elimination ceremony together and vote out one person, Yellow team reminds Gabby of Ellie's elimination which convinces Gabby to side with the villains alliance. While initially it seems like Tom is the target, votes for Tess start getting revealed.
