A 1985 Canadian teen Sketch Comedy from You Can't Do That on Television creator Roger Price and then-current Nickelodeon president Geraldine Laybourne (in her solo co-creator credit) that aired on Nickelodeon.
The story goes that when the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock, a turkey (voiced by Sesame Workshop regular Jim Thurman) decides to invent television in order to keep him off of their dinner plates.
The show featured a multitude of sketches performed by You Can't Do That On Television's repertory cast, alongside additional material from various shows, standup comedians and old movies.
Tropes for the series:
- Alliterative Title: Turkey Television.
- Closet Sublet: One recurring sketch was an E.T. parody starring Adam Reed as a boy with a friendly alien living in his closet.
- Depraved Dentist: A Lighter and Softer version appears, with the dentist making small talk with his patients while handcuffing them to the chair.
- Gentleman Adventurer: Mr. Fuddle is one of these.
- This Banana is Armed: A literal example in a duel segment. When choosing their pistols, one of the duelists is forced to take a banana. The real pistol jams, but the banana fires a lethal blast and kills the other duelist.
