2000 drama about a group of regulars at the Tinsel Town night club. The group consists of:

  • Jack, an undertaker.
  • Sandra, Jack's friend.
  • Ryan, Sandra's teenage brother.
  • Brady and Coutts, two small-time dealers who sell their gear at the club.
  • Teresa, Coutts' girlfriend.
  • Lex, a club regular who ends up DJing there as well.
  • Lewis, a cop whose beat occasionally brings him to the club.

Provides examples of:

  • Alcoholic Parent: Jack's mum is shown in the first episode as fast asleep in early evening with a couple of half-empty vodka bottles at her bedside.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When they're first introduced, Coutts and Teresa can be overhead arguing loudly, only for it to be revealed that they're playing against each other in Tekken.
  • The Bore: Ken. Sandra and Jack let him keep talking as long as he gets the drinks in.
  • Culturally Religious: When Stella asks Lex if she does drugs, she says that if she wanted to confess her sins, she'd start going back to chapel, suggesting that she was brought up as a Catholic.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Sparky, who sets off car alarms because he likes the noise.
  • Really Gets Around: Colin, on the advice of his dying father, never turns down an opportunity for sex.
  • Self-Deprecation: The woman that Lewis talks to at the bar in the first episode jokes that she should have realised that he was lying when he said he was married because if he was he might have been desperate enough to cop off with her.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Ryan listens to "Out of Control" by The Chemical Brothers while he gets ready for his night out.
    • Jack jokes to Sandra that he's passing the time by watching repeats of One Man and His Dog.
    • "That Green Jesus" by Mr Natural appears in the soundtrack.
    • Jack refers to Ken as "Mr Nice-But-Dim".
  • Titled After the Song: The show is named after the Blue Nile song, "Tinseltown in the Rain".
