Tidsrejsen (Journey through Time) is a Danish julekalender from 2014, produced by DR, the Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company.
It is December and 13-year-old science whiz Sophie and her younger brother Birk are facing their first Christmas after their parents' divorce. Sophie is unhappy and wants nothing more than to have Christmas with both her parents together again. To cheer her up, her eccentric inventor grandfather gifts her with "The Gyro", a time-travel device that he has been working on for years without success.
At the same time a new boy, Dixie, shows up in Sophie's class. He is unusually interested in Sophie and the Gyro, and strangely he begins to appear in the background of her old family photographs as well. One evening where Sophie follows him to find out what is going on, she and Dixie find themselves pursued by two sinister men in suits. Sophie presses a button on Dixie's ATV and suddenly they are back in 1984.
It turns out that Dixie is a time traveler from a dystopian future where time travel is outlawed, and rogue time travelers are ruthlessly pursued by the time police TEMPUS. Dixie's gyro is running out of fuel, and he has sought out Sophie, because she is the one who will later invent time travel. Sophie agrees to help him if he returns her to her own time, and enlists the younger self of her grandfather for help, but she also uses the opportunity to meddle with her parents' relationship so they will stay together later on - with disastrous consequences.
