The Secret Life of Toys was a short-lived spin-off series, based on The Christmas Toy.

The whole series is available on YouTube. Playlist is here.

Tropes associated with this work:

  • Canon Foreigner: Besides Rugby, Balthazar, Ditz, and Mew. There are new characters, some based on the 'The Christmas Toy' characters that didn't make it into the show, and others are new.
  • Cool Old Guy: Balthazar Bear is an old worn teddy bear with a button for a monocle.
  • The Ditz: Ditz the Clown
  • It's All About Me: As in the special, Rugby the Tiger tends to get an inflated opinion of himself.
  • Masquerade: The toys have a set of rules, called No-No's in the series that revolves around keeping up the ruse that they're not inanimate objects.
    • The First No-No is "Never destroy anything belonging to the children".
    • The Third No-No is "Never be caught out of your place".
    • The Seventh No-No is "Never kidnap a magic fish".
    • The Tenth No-No is "Never play a tape without rewinding".
    • The Thirty-Second No-No is "Never trust a spy".
    • The Forty-Fourth No-No is "Never go beyond the Beamland door".
    • The Eighty-Third No-No is "Never go in the lion's den".
  • The Stool Pigeon: The appropriately named Bratty Rat threatens to 'rat' out the other toys when they do something wrong. In "I'm Going To Tell On You," he tells on Raisin for accidentally taping over one of the children's audio cassettes.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute:
    • Apple was replaced by Raisin, another redheaded doll with a food name and a rivalry with Rugby.
    • Belmont was replaced by Hortense, another rocking horse who worries a lot.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: Bratty Rat does this to Rugby in "I'm Going To Tell On You."
Rugby: The more I know you, the more I understand why they call you 'Bratty Rat.'
    Bratty Rat: Awwww...(kisses Rugby)
Rugby: Oh yuck, you are disgusting!
  • Wainscot Society: The toys have their own society, albeit only when humans aren't watching.
