Tropes for the series:

• Ball Cannon: A sketch had an assassin killing prominent Australian sports stars. Tennis player John Newcombe was murdered by pouring sugar into his tennis ball server while he was practicing. The machine went berserk and unleashed a barrage of balls that killed him.
• Character Title: The Paul Hogan Show, hosted by Paul Hogan.
• Hideous Hangover Cure: Strop's hangover cure: an oyster, a raw egg, salt, pepper, Vegemite, and beer. The most remarkable aspect is that the actor actually mixed and drank this concoction in front of the cameras before dashing off the set to throw up.
• Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion: The show did a parody of The Prophecies of Nostradamus where Hoges revealed that the prophecies of his ancestor which, like Nostradamus', were also in verse. One of them ran:
  The boy stood on the burning deck,
  His pockets full of crackers.
  A flame shot up his trouser leg
  And blew off his...sandshoes.
