A sequel to the series of the same name that aired on NBC and in syndication from 1984 to 1988, Punky Brewster is an American Dom Com. It premiered on Peacock on February 25, 2021 and stars Soleil Moon Frye as a grown up Punky Brewster, now a single mom raising three kids in Chicago.

The series was produced by Armogida Brothers Productions, the production company of developers and executive producers Steve and Jim Armogida, alongside Main Event Media, Universal, and Universal Content Productions. In addition to the Armogida Brothers, David W. Duclon, the creator and executive producer of the original series, returned as creator and executive producer.

On August 19, 2021, Peacock announced that it was not renewing the show for a second season.

This series provides examples of:

  • Amicable Exes: Punky and her ex-husband Travis are recently divorced at the start of the series, but have a friendly relationship.
  • Follow in My Footsteps: Punky is a professional photographer, just like her adoptive father, Henry.
  • Foster Kid: Just as Punky was a foster kid, the reboot centers around Izzy, the 7-year-old from Fenster Hall whom Punky takes in.
  • Happily Adopted: In addition to Punky herself, her two sons were also adopted.
  • Honorary Aunt: Punky's kids refer to Cherie as Aunt Cherie.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Punky's biological mother, Susan, calls her daughter and then shows up in Chicago years later to make amends with her daughter after getting sober.
  • Parental Abandonment: Izzy is a victim of this trope hence why Punky decides to become her foster mother.
  • The Pig-Pen: Oldest son Diego brags that one of the perks of being a middle child is not brushing his teeth for three weeks and no one noticing.
  • Rough Overalls: Still a child at heart, but now a mother, Punky often wears overalls which is a way to balance out her character in how she's still a Genki Girl but responsible as an adult.
  • Treehouse of Fun: The huge treehouse behind the apartment building where Punky, Cherie and their friends used to hang out is still around, although one episode centers around its desperate need for rebuilding.
