In this live-action centered series
Pixar in Real Life centers around a verity of
Pixar characters set in New York City, with a few moments from the studio's films introduced into the real world. The show was released on
Disney+ on November 12, 2019. It is the first fully live-action project by the company
* Even though there was use of live-action in WALL•E, it was both live-action and CGI.
Examples:
- Big Applesauce: New York City is the main setting for the series.
- Call-Back: Carl from the episode “Russell Earns A Badge” makes a cameo in the balloon cart episode, passing by the balloon cart salesman before the credits roll.
- Candid Camera Prank: The episode about Dash from The Incredibles ultimately ends up like this, with the reveal that "Dash" is actually played by a pair of twins that come and go from the two sides of a building so that it seems like they're a single individual with Super-Speed.
- Live-Action Adaptation: Needless to say, it's mainly the Pixar characters set in the real world.
- Mythology Gag:
- The episode "Aquarium Escape" re-enacts the scene from Finding Dory where Hank and Dory are on a stroller to Open Ocean in the Marine Life Institute.
- The fourth episode, "Traffic Cone Rescue", shows Buzz Lightyear and Andy's toys disguised as traffic cones to rescue Sheriff Woody from Al, à la Toy Story 2.
- The whole series can be considered to be this to every Pixar film.
- Scout-Out: One episode is about Russell from Up asking people to help him earn wilderness explorer badges.
