Para Pencari Tuhan (Those Who Are Searching for God in English) is a well-known Indonesian Soap Opera that airs in SCTV. One of the directors was nationally famous Dedi Mizwar (who is also an actor there) and it airs in the fasting month of Islam known as Ramadhan. The main story is about the Comic Trio named Barong, Chelsea, and Juki who used to be in prison, ending up as workers at a musholla (mini mosque) being taught by Mr. Jack (Bang Jack).

Fifteen seasons have been aired in its home country every Ramadan month since 2007, with a hiatus in 2018.

  • Cassandra Truth - Bonte tries to convince Mr. Jack that the RW leader and his gang were making money by faking that Baha is some holy man. He didn't believes him and thought he's crazy instead.
  • Catchphrase - The RW leader has stuttering "nganu" when he is forced to explain something that would reveal his scheme and "wedus!" when swearing.
  • December–December Romance - Between Mr. Jack and Azam's mother. Jack then must competes with a similarly old man Wijoyo.
  • Disorganized Outline Speech - The RW leader's speech to explain why he anonymously made the donation box for Loli starts by several "Do you think I did this for X? No!" When Jalal asks what the reason then, Idrus realizes that he has no idea what he is trying to say, but luckily Azam stands up and gives him a reason.
  • Evil Sorcerer - The RW leader claims that he learned sorcery since he was little, such as Voodoo and Mind-controlling.
  • Executive Meddling - In Universe, where Mr. Jack was kicked out of the musholla and replaced by the RW leader.
  • Forgotten Birthday - Aya's Birthday during one episode.
  • Fainting - When Kalila just knew that Azam and Aya are going to get married by looking at a wedding invitation.
    • Also Udin when Kalila rejects his marriage proposal
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners - Asrul and Udin, they both have wives (although Udin and his wife is divorced), and both have children.
    • Aya and Kalila, despite that they fought over the same man.
  • Hollywood Voodoo - The RW (some form of neighborhood) leader does this to get the Briefcase Full of Money.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy - At the end of the 3rd season, Aya lets Azam marry Kalila, but as Azam and Kalila practiced for the wedding ceremony, turns out that somehow Kalila says that Azam would be better with Aya, and in the end Azam married Aya.
  • Identity Amnesia: Hakim suffers it after nearly drowns in a flood in season 11
  • Incurable Cough of Death - Happened to The Alcoholic at the 3rd season.
  • Just Like Robin Hood - Robin
  • Karma Houdini - Vega and Vegi almost always get away with their thievery.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: In season 11, Udin mentions that he and Asrul have been friends for 10 Eid al-Fitr.
  • Lethal Chef - Unfortunately Aya's mother-in-law disapproves Aya's cooking.
  • Like a Son to Me - Bang Jack to Barong, Chelsea, and Juki.
  • Like Brother and Sister - Baha and Kalila, especially at the 2nd season.
  • Limited Wardrobe - Asrul almost always wear a blue T-Shirt and a red cap during the early seasons. Justified that he was too poor to buy new clothes (and currently saving money for his pilgrimage to Mecca).
  • Long-Runner Cast Turnover - After 10+ seasons, the only stable cast is Jack, Jalal, Udin, Asrul, Jalal's wife, Joes, and Hakim. The original lead trio stops appearing after season 10 and many characters doesn't come back after the hiatus after season 11. Then, many of the load of the new cast introduced in season 12 onwards only last one season or is gone after season 14.
  • Long-Runners - Have been aired regularly for 16 years (including the 2018 break) since 2007.
  • Love Triangle - Aya, Azam, and Kalila at the third season.
    • Kalila, Domino, and Fahri at the eight season. Then Udin join the triangle
  • Missing Mom - Chelsea's mom left him in orphanage when he was a baby.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: A Running Gag
    Loli: I will always support Mr. Jalal. (a glare from Mrs. Jalal) And Mrs. Jalal.
  • Nothing Is T He Same Anymore: Kampung Kincir is destroyed by a flood in Season 11, forcing the characters to spend the season in a refugee camp before splitting up. When they gather back to live in a new neighborhood in the next season, many old characters do not return and the remaining ones meet new characters.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws - Aya's mother-in-law distrusts Aya's skill as a wife and goes to Azam and Aya's home to interfere, although they eventually get along.
  • Official Couple - Aya and Azam, until there was another person.
    • But were back into an Official Couple again as they married in the Season 3 finale.
    • Chelsea and Marni. Barong and Dara.
    • Kalila decided to marry Domino in season 10 finale.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Two of Asrul's friends are named Zulfikar Baharudin.
  • Parental Substitute - Juki's Mother (Mak Juki)
    • Mr. Jack to Chelsea, Barong, and Juki.
  • Power Trio - Barong, Chelsea, and Juki (the three themselves are played by the Trio Bajaj). In scratch, Barong would be Superego, Chelsea would be Id while Juki would be Ego.
  • Promotion to Parent - Seemly Haifa, Aya's sister.
  • Put on a Bus: Hakim apparently went to Singapore during season 9, so Idrus and Yos needed to find a replacement RW treasurer.
  • Rags to Riches - Happened to Asrul, and unfortunately inverted to Mr. Jalal. In season 5, Barong, Juki and Chelsea become TV stars playing a Sinetron (Indonesia soap opera) which has a story that is very similar to their own life about a trio of former criminals who ended up working in a musholla. Accordingly, they tried to ask Mr. Jack to live with them in their new house, though Mr. Jack politely decline because he wants to dedicate himself to taking care of the Musholla.
  • Riches to Rags:
    • Happened to Mr. Jalal, although he recover and simply chose to live in his shack house before convinced to move to his old house.
    • Happened to Asrul when his shop is rumored to sell pork.
  • Rich Jerk With A Heart Of Gold - Kalila's uncle Jalal.
  • Romantic Runner-Up: Mr. Jack when Widya choose to marry Wijoyo

  • Short-Distance Phone Call: Between Aya and Kalila.
  • Tomboy - Azam's gift towards Aya implies that she used to be this when she was little.
  • Undying Loyalty - Loli comes back to work for Mr. and Mrs. Jalal even though they go into poverty, simply out of loyalty.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife - Udin and his wife.
  • Verbal Tic - During the early seasons, Bonte likes to say "Cie Cie Cie!" (an equivalent to whistling)
  • Wedding Finale - Some seasons ends with a finale focused on a wedding between the main characters.
    • Season 3 ends with Azzam's wedding with Aya. It would have been with Kalila, but she pulls a I Want My Beloved to Be Happy at the last second.
    • Season 8 ends with Widya's wedding with Wijoyo, leaving Jack as a Romantic Runner-Up.
    • Season 10 ends with Kalila and Domino's wedding.
