Palace (宫锁心玉, Gōng Suǒ Xīn Yù, also called "Jade Palace Lock Heart") is a 2011 Chinese series starring Yang Mi, Feng Shao Feng, Mickey He, and Tong Li Ya. It was followed by two sequel series, Palace II and Palace 3: The Lost Daughter, and a 2013 film, The Palace. It's often compared to Scarlet Heart, another 2011 series about a modern girl who travels back to the Kangxi Emperor's reign and falls in love with one of his sons.

Luo Qing Chuan, a girl from the 21st century, time-travels back to the Qing Dynasty during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor. She becomes embroiled in the princes' power struggles and tries to use her knowledge of the past to stay alive.

The series can be watched on YouTube with English subtitles.

Not to be confused with the 2008 series The Palace.

Contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – History: Qing Chuan wears yellow before she becomes part of the imperial household. In real life wearing yellow was forbidden for anyone except the emperor and a few people he specifically allowed to wear it.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Qing Chuan's first appearance she interrupts the filming of a drama to complain about how historically inaccurate the drama is.
  • Imperial China: The series' main setting.
  • Historical Domain Character: Most of the characters, including Yin Si, Yin Zhen, and Su Yan, are based on real people.
  • Named by the Adaptation: History doesn't record Imperial Noble Consort Dunsu's personal names. The series gives her the name Tong Su Yan.
  • Not so Dire: The series starts with what looks like an assassination attempt on the emperor... then Qing Chuan interrupts and it's revealed the "emperor" and "assassin" are just actors filming a drama. And then the whole thing turns out to be All Just a Dream.
