One Chicago (often stylized as #OneChicago) is a TV franchise created by Dick Wolf that began with Chicago Fire. This is Wolf's second major TV franchise after the long-running Law & Order, which exists in the same universe.

Despite the titles, Chicago Hope and The Chicago Code are not part of the franchise.

TV series in the franchise include:

Tropes associated with the franchise

  • Crossover: Several times with each other. Outside of each other they have frequent ones with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, the sole program of the Law & Order franchise still airing by the time the shows premiered.note
  • Crossover Ship: A few In-Universe examples.
    • Kelly Severide of Fire had flings with Erin Lindsey of PD and April Sexton of Med.
    • Randy McHolland of Fire and Trudy Platt of PD are Happily Married by the franchise's fourth year.
    • Antonio Dawson of PD and Justice dated Sylvie Brett of Fire for a while.
  • Identical Stranger: Many cast members have also appeared on the Law & Order franchise. The most notable example is S. Epatha Merkerson, who plays Sharon Goodwin in Med but also played Lt. Anita Van Buren for much of the original Law & Order's run (and she was Recast as a Regular there, too).
  • Job Title:
    • Fire = Firefighters.
    • PD = Police.
    • Med = Hospital workers.
    • Justice = Lawyers
  • One Degree of Separation: At least one character is related to another character on a different show.
    • Kelly Severide of Fire had flings with Erin Lindsey of PD and April Sexton of Med; the latter is also his foster sister.
    • Gabbi Dawson of Fire is the younger sister of Antonio Dawson of PD and Justice. Antonio also dated his sister's colleague Sylvie Brett.
    • Randy McHolland of Fire is married to Trudy Platt of PD.
    • Jay Halstead of PD is the younger brother of Will Halstead of Med.
    • Peter Stone of Justice is the lawyer who put Hank Voight of PD in jail for harassing Matt Casey of Fire.
  • The Place: They all take place in Chicago, if the titles aren't obvious enough.
  • Shared Universe: With the Law & Order franchise, and by extension, Homicide: Life on the Street, FBI, and FBI: Most Wanted.
  • Team Title: Fire is about Chicago's Fire Department, PD is Exactly What It Says on the Tin, Med is about the Emergency Department of the medical center, and Justice is about the team of lawyers from Chicago's State Attorney's office.
