The "Morseverse" is the unofficial name for the British ITV crime drama franchise which started with Inspector Morse. Based on the novels by Colin Dexter, it consists of the following:

  • Inspector Morse (1987-2000, 33 episodes): the original series, starring John Thaw as the title character.
  • Lewis (2006-2015, 33 episodes): the Spin-Off series centering around Sergeant Lewis following his promotion to Inspector.
  • Endeavour (2012-2023, 36 episodes): the prequel set in the 60s and later the early 70s, relating to the early cases of the young Detective Constable (later Detective Sergeant) Morse, with Shaun Evans in the title role.

There have also been various radio adaptations of Dexter's novels, and in 2010 a stage play, Morse: House of Ghosts (written by Alma Cullen, who wrote four of the Inspector Morse TV episodes) toured the UK with Colin Baker as Morse; Neil Pearson went onto play Morse when it was adapted for BBC radio in 2017.

Due to the many shout-outs that occur in Endeavour, it could be implied that the events of certain TV shows and films actually happened in the Morseverse — among them Hi-de-Hi!, Blackadder, The Third Man, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Mr. Benn.
