It was directed by Kaarel Kilvet and Tiiu Vahi, while Gunt Randl served as the art director. The music was composed by Tõnis Kõrvits.

In the years 1977–1978 another colour version was registered, but it has been lost to time.

Tropes in the show:

  • Bears Are Bad News: Inverted. The main character is a bear and very nice and friendly. However the local schoolyard bully is a fox, and his lackeys are two wolf cubs.
  • The Corrupter: The wolves are often apathetic at best, but Rein ropes them into his Toxic Friend Influence from time to time.
  • Edutainment Show: About remembering your ABC's - for example, at one point the letter "A" is compared to a roof because of it's shaped.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Rein, because he is a bully. When the main character storms off after he's been rude one too many times, he says he doesn't care if he has no friends.
  • Friend to All Living Things: On the other hand, Mommi is beloved by everyone, even the wolves that occasionally bully him.
  • Gratuitous English: The show is in Estonian, but also teaches the viewers English. It helps that both Estonian and English share a common alphabet, though Estonian's is loaded with more vowels with umlauts.
  • Jerkass: Rein, the fox, who frequently bullies the main character and tries to take his Teddy Bear. He also inspires bad habits such as not studying and being disrespectful amongst his peers.
  • Live-Action Adaptation: It's based off Karu-aabits, a book created by Heljo Mann.
  • Pink Is Feminine: The show's token female character is a pink rabbit. Though, there is also Kati.
  • Pun: When the bear asks the wolves if they know any letters from the alphabet, they say they know "U". They then proceed to howl "UUUUU" for a long time.
  • Spear Counterpart: Kati is this to the main character, as she is also a curious bear that loves to learn.
