A Short-Lived American Sitcom that 1950s Sitcom family finding themselves in a Sitcom Relocation Program and trying to adjust to life in the 1990s.

The show stars Charlotte Booker, Stephen C Bradbury, Julie Benz, Danny Gura, Susan Cella, Peter Benson, and Eric Kushnick.

The series aired for two seasons, first on ABC's TGiF block, then would later be re-ran on Nick at Nite that following Sunday. ABC only aired the first 6 episodes, with Nick at Nite finishing the series' run.

The series is one of Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite's most obscure series; thankfully all the episodes, including the original pilot that aired exactly once during Nickelodeon's 20th anniversary celebration spotlighting Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean's casting, are all on YouTube.

Do NOT confuse this for the short-lived and controversial British sitcom Heil Honey I'm Home!.

Tropes for the series:

  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Honey hands out condoms to some boys, thinking them to be something else. When one of the mothers talks to her about it:
    Mother: they are condoms!
    Honey: They're mints.
    Lloyd: They're condiments.
  • Bullet Catch: When Lloyd shoots the family dog, the dog catches the bullet in his teeth.
  • Courtroom Episode: When Elaine gives Lloyd an old clock that turns out to be worth $3000, they go to The Person’s Court over the money.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: The Nielsens can change themselves and their home from color to black and white with a device called a turnerizer. It also works on other television characters who visit, but it doesn’t work on Mike because he’s real.
  • Dinner with the Boss: Parodied in the first episode. The boss turns out to be Mr. Mooney from The Lucy Show, played by Gale Gordon.
  • Egg Sitting: Mike and Babs have to take care of an egg, but Elaine uses it to make brownies.
  • False Friend: Skunk pretends to be Chucky’s friend to get him to help rob a neighbor’s house.
  • Fell Off the Back of a Truck: Skunk steals a lamp and says it fell off the back of a truck.
  • Freudian Slip: When Elaine meets Babs, she says, "Nice to meet you, Boobs. Babs."
  • The Matchmaker: Honey tries to pair Elaine up with Lloyd’s coworker, but he turns out to be gay.
  • Refugee from TV Land: The show is based around the Nielsen family, a sitcom family whose show has been canceled and move next door to a fan to await being put back on the air. Additionally, a series Couch Gag would have a different classic tv character come visit Honey, for example in one episode Ann B. Davis drops in as Alice Nelson.
  • Scout-Out: Chucky is a Hoot Owl Scout.
  • Sleeping Single: Honey and Lloyd sleep in separate beds. They push them together in the first episode of the second season.
  • Trapped in TV Land: Reversed, which features the Nielsen family from a 50s sitcom that has been canceled. They are relocated to the Real World, in a typical 90s suburb. When overwhelmed by the complexities of the world in which they now live, they seek comfort by using a device known as a Turnerizer, which causes themselves and their home environment to revert to monochrome. The outside world (as seen through open doors, etc.), as well as anyone from the outside world, are unaffected.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: The family comes from a town called "Springfield", and they never specify the state it's in.
