Club der roten Bänder (Club of the Red Bracelets) is a German TV series started in 2015, about a group of young patients and their troubles. Started as the first self-produced series of the German TV station VOX and thus far has one season with 10 episodes. The series is based on the book Stories from a Yellow World by Albert Espinosa, who in the book describes his youth battling cancer.
Club der roten Bänder contains examples of:
- Cool Old Guy: Toni's grandfather fits the bill.
- Arbitrary Skepticism: Leo and Jonas have doubts about the existence of an afterlife, despite visiting Hugo in his realm and Toni talking to Hugo regularly.
- Comically Missing the Point: Toni, as a result of his Aspergers does this a lot.Alex: Well, that really is at the ass of the moor. (German saying meaning far away)Toni: Which moor?Alex: Sorry, I meant that it's really far away.
- Dramatic Thunder: Happens at the start of episode three. It's the cue to Leo's outburst and refusal of further chemotherapy.
- Hospital Gurney Scene: Toni enters the hospital in one of these. Alex presumably had one of these, too.
- Love Triangle: Leo, Jonas and Emma
- Patient of the Week: Even though it's less patient of the week and more roommate of the week.
- Title Drop: in Episode 2. Justified in so far as the series is about the epynomus club.
- Trauma Conga Line: Season 2 is this for Leo, with Emma dumping him, Lucas abandoning the club, his cancer returning in force and that's only the first few episodes
