Adventure Time has a lot of episodes that are continuations of others.
- "Return to the Nightosphere"/"Daddy's Little Monster" for "It Came From the Nightosphere", continuing the strained relationship between Marceline and her father.
- "Crystals Have Power" for "Tree Trunks", which resolved Tree Trunks' disappearance after taking a bite from the Crystal Gem Apple.
- "Too Young" for "Mortal Recoil", dealing with the aftermath of Princess Bubblegum being de-aged to 13 when she recovered from the Lich possessing her. "You Made Me" for "Too Young", which focuses on the conflict between Bubblegum and her creation Lemongrab, who showed up to rule the Candy Kingdom until Princess Bubblegum became an adult again. "All Your Fault" for "You Made Me", where we find out what's going on with Lemongrab and the clone Bubblegum made to keep him company.
- "Incendium" for "Too Young", which deals with Finn developing a crush on Flame Princess to cope with Princess Bubblegum not returning his affections. Any episode with a fire-related pun as the title will feature Flame Princess, as "Hot to the Touch" and "Burning Low" both follow "Incendium".
- "The Vault" focuses on why the ghost girl from "The Creeps" appeared to Finn.
- "From Bad to Worse" has Cinnamon Bun become a Patient Zero for the candy zombie virus previously seen in "Slumber Party Panic".
- "Beautopia" is a continuation of "Susan Strong" where Susan Strong returns to ask Finn and Jake for help in defending her people from the Lub Glubs.
- The ending of "Mortal Recoil" involved the Lich possessing the Snail. "In Your Footsteps" ends with the Bear taking the Enchiridion to the Lich so he can fulfill his goal of exterminating all life. "The Lich" and "Finn the Human"/"Jake the Dog" follows up on that plot thread.
- "Lady and Peebles" revealed at the end that Lady was pregnant. "Jake the Dad" follows up on that with the plot of Jake moving in with her to take care of his and Lady's kids.
- "King Worm" resolves the plot thread of the previous episode "Evicted!" where the ending of said episode had Finn and Jake mesmerized by a giant worm.
- "I Remember You" elaborates on a reveal (that Ice King Was Once a Man) introduced in "Holly Jolly Secrets". "Simon and Marcy" is one for "I Remember You", showcasing Simon and Marceline's past together, which "I Remember You" only briefly elaborated on.
- "Too Old" ends with Princess Bubblegum saving a Lemon Child named Lemonhope from Lemongrab 1's clutches. The "Lemonhope" two parter has her instructing Lemonhope to save his brothers from Lemongrab 1's tyrannical reign.
- "James" ended with the titular character sacrificing himself and becoming an Ooze Zombie. "James II" has the James zombie show up to attack the Candy Kingdom.
