    • Rin calls Alice "not a virgin", which he thinks means "proper lady". Mokuren is Shion's rape victim. Rin briefly panics when he sees a cat and believes them being freaks of nature. Shion owned a giant creepy cat as a pet. Rin gets Hate at First Sight on Jinpachi and interrogates Alice if she likes him despite meeting once. Shion, Gyokuran and Mokuren were part of a Love Triangle. To drive it further, Alice is told that Shion was engaged with Mokuren. • Flower Motifs: Aliens' Floral Theme Naming aside, flowers regularly used in manga's backgrounds at specific points to represent character's state of mind.
  • From the Mouths of Babes: Downplayed. Rin believes "virgin" is a "proper lady" and "true gentleman". Meaning what his mom is and Alice isn't.

  • Human Aliens: Aside Psychic Powers and space travel, the aliens are indistinguishable from humans.

  • Reincarnation Romance: The cast not only inherits Past-Life Memories, but all the love relationships that happened back then.
  • Secretly Selfish: "S" quickly unravels that Haruhiko not only does remember everything, but tried to hide Shusuran's motives, which are letting Shion live specifically out of spite. He also theorizes Haruhiko has Shion's appearance out of Shusuran's jealousy.
  • Seamless Spontaneous Lie: Rin tries to pass as Shukaido, which goes rather too well for him. First he explains the age discrepancy by claiming he lived and died as another child before (In reality, Shion died much later than the rest, which is used to expose him later). Then he meets Haruhiko, the actual Shukaido, who just happens to look exactly like Shion, and blackmails him fill Shion's place in the group.
  • Shoutout:
    • Rin shouts "Shoowatch!" in his first appearance.

    • An author note explains that jingles the characters sing in the first chapter come from food commercials, Space Battleship Yamato and Robert Schumann's "Gypsy's Life".
    • Saint Seiya reruns are referenced in the manga and Shiryu and Roshi appear on TV. Rin and Alice are also represented by Shun and Ikki for one panel. Issei and Junpachi appear are Hyoga and Shun for a moment as well.
    • A Doraemon poster appears in the background.
  • Split-Personality Takeover:
    • Out of the seven, Rin is the only one to be taken over by his Past-Life Memories, and is hit with this right away, which is attributed to his young age, becoming a mix of Rin's personality and Shion's memories. The conflict between the two results in the Evil Plan getting a few holes.
    • Issei slowly gets more like Enji as his affection to Jinpachi increases, to the point where he considers it being another problem.
    • Alice's actual problem with her Refusal of the Call is that she doesn't want to even partially be someone else.
  • Tokyo Tower: A part of the main plot is "S" blackmailing Takashi's and Haruhiko's fathers into adding own blueprints into Tokyo Tower while it's under reconstruction, which adds a radio transmitter capable of communicating with the Lunar Base. It's where the final controntation takes place.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
    • Alice slaps Rin on the face... while he's playing on rails of the 15th floor balcony. Rin becoming comatose is only the start of the problems.
    • The entire story wouldn't have happened in the first place if Shukaido didn't give the vaccine to Shion instead of Mokuren out of spite, hoping he would experience Fate Worse than Death.
  • Wild Take: A regular occurance is characters getting googly eyes and gaping mouth when they're surprized.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: The Lunar Base story get own dedicated chapters showing what really happened, twice from Shion's and Mokuren's point of view.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: The Big Bad having the body of a grade-schooler causes a lot of problems for the heroes are aware of his identity, which he considers an additional advantage.

    Mode

YMMV

    AA
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Since Rin is unambiguously present only in the beginning and the end of the story, who is in control when the kid performs villainy is left unclear. Some heroes believe it's Rin supporting Shion's motives, while other refer to him exclusively as Shion possessing Rin's body. Rin later admitting being in control at few points and letting Shion collect the passwords hoping he can ruin his plans in the last minute doesn't help matters.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Shion as a teen has lived as a war orphan, believing he had to kill to get any food. He was adopted by a nun and later a doctor, who tried to teach him the value of a family, but died from an illness right when they almost had a breakthrough. Even Shion's cat was taken away. Then the government assigned him as the engineer of the observatory of a new planet against his will, and later the home planet got destroyed when he wanted to return the most. When the victim of his rape forgave him and finally managed to reach his nicer side, she died to Murder by Inaction by another crew member, who subjugates him to living alone among corpses for 9 years. Shion has more than a few screws loose when he reincarnates.
  • Squick: Boku wo Tsutsumu Tsuki no Hikari is a manga sequel set 15 years later. By this time, Alice and Rin are married with two children. Rin was 16 when their first child was born, meaning, he was 15 at the time he impregnated Alice (who was 24). This did not sit well with some people.
