Sandbox / LGBTQ Ignorance Among Themselves

Queer vs Queer is when a LGBTQ character is ignorant about or antagonistic towards another LGBTQ character.

One standard portrayal of this trope is when they have gays and lesbians insulting and stereotyping one another and dismissing the notion that gays and lesbians are one and the same.

Another form comes in the No Bisexuals mindset, in which gays and lesbians do not believe that a person is bisexual and try to convince them they aren't bi.

Examples:

Live Action TV

• Happened twice in Grownish. One has bisexual Nomi being mad that a woman she was dating think she just a late lesbian. Then Nomi herself did it to David, a bisexual man she was dating. She broke up with him because the situation between bi women and men were different. She does re-think her attitude however.

• In one episode

of Modern Family, Cam and Mitchell end up running afoul with a lesbian couple. The two would then denounce the notion that gays and lesbians were similar to one another. They also give the reason why the two groups dont mix well which boils down to them being opposite gender while being attractive to the same gender.

• Will & Grace
  • Happened to both the pansexual and bisexual community. In the original series, both Karen and Will hook up with a pansexual. When they find out, Will dismiss his pansexuality and says it was just a rest stop to being gay. Another situation happened in the revival in which Will was convinced that Grace's niece's bisexual boyfriend was just confused about being gay and tries to convince him he was gay.

Western Animation

• In South Park, during the time when Mr. Garrison was a transgender woman,he became much more homophobic. At one point during a anti gay marriage rally, he suggested a lynching on all gay people. Something that horrified the other Heteronormative Crusader.
