Devil Factor is a Crossover fanfic written by rr3elite (has his own profile at fanfiction.net), which crosses over the Tekken series and the Taimanin series, more specifically Action Taimanin.

The fic is an alternate retelling of Tekken 8's story mode, with the timeline of the Tekken series is merged with that of Action Taimanin, where the Taimanin cast can also participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament.

What does it mean to fight? Is the fight about being the last man standing? Or is it about the fight to survive? Or is the fight about what's worth protecting? In the war between humans and demons, the answer lies in the heart of the battle. Those who enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament will prove their worth.

It is not to be confused with the Dead or Alive 4: The Devil Factor.

This fic may contain unmarked spoilers for Tekken 8's The Dark Awakens in addition to being adapted into the fic, as well as Action Taimanin's Main Quest chapters 16 to 20. If you haven't completed both games' main storyline, please read ahead at your own risk.

Devil Factor provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Rin is already a capable Taimanin in her own right, but this fic take a step further as she also knows the same type of traditional karate utilized by Jin, she even has her own version of Jin's move set.
    • Fuuma is mostly a POV character and Mission Control with his own fair share of combat experience. Here, he takes a level in badass when he receives the Excalibur XX.
  • Anyone Can Die: Only applying to the Taimanin villains, who ended up meeting gruesome deaths at the hands of Tekken characters: the Incubus King gets beheaded by Hwoarang, and Oboro gets a fist to the chest courtesy of Kazuya, out of all people.
  • Ascended Extra: Rin Uehara only has a minor role throughout Action Taimanin and RPGX. Here, she plays a key role on Jun Kazama's life, as well as Jin's.
  • BFS: The Excalibur XX, a weapon created by Violet Systems, in collaboration with the DSO and Sirius Marksmen. Fuuma ends up wielding this weapon, replacing his broken ninja sword after it was irreparably damaged after the events of chapter 3.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: The Taimanin series is no stranger to blood and gore, at least in the original source material. Action Taimanin omits the presence of blood, and so is the Tekken series. The first instance of blood and gore to be shown in the story is Hwoarang's decapitation of the Incubus King in Chapter 4, complete him stomping the demon's head into giblets.
  • Call-Back: Kazuya's killing of Oboro involves him using the Parricide Fist, which was first seen in Kazuya's final battle against Heihachi in 7.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Reina gives both Edwin Black and Oboro a brutal beating of their lives.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Rin's Kyodaibanrai is a stronger version of her Finishing Move in Action, not only this consumes a lot of Taima Particles in her body, this leaves Rin badly exhausted from using the technique.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ryuji Kuroi, the Incubus King, usually survives in most Taimanin continuities. Here, Hwoarang decapitates him with his Dead End throw.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Hwoarang kills the Incubus King in the Chaos Arena Battle Royale.
  • Do Not Go Gentle: Oboro makes one last ditch attempt to kill Kazuya after getting beaten to near-death by the man himself, only for her to meet a gruesome end thanks to a Parricide Fist.
  • Final Solution: Edwin Black orders the extermination of any surviving members of the Hachijo clan and burn their village down to the ground, so no one can come between him and his goal to take the Devil Gene out of Kazuya and Jin.
  • Four Is Death: Chapter 4 has Hwoarang beheading the Incubus King, the first known fatality involving a Taimanin character.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Reina appears out of nowhere and proceeds to beat both Oboro and Edwin Black within an inch of their lives.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Edwin Black finds himself competing for world domination against two Mishimas — Kazuya Mishima and Reina.
  • History Repeats: Edwin Black finds himself being overwhelmed and dogpiled by an army of JACK-7s, in the same manner that happened to Heihachi Mishima at the start of Tekken 5.
  • I Know Karate: Rin actually knows Kyokushin karate, the same style of karate Jin uses since Tekken 4. Jin's Punch to Cascade Kick originally belonged to Rin.
  • Off with His Head!: How Hwoarang kills the Incubus King in Chapter 4, using his Dead End throw.
  • The Purge: Kazuya manages to purge the UFS and Chinese Union's governments, and had puppet leaders installed in their respective nations as part of his quest for world domination.
  • Puppet State: How the UFS and the Chinese Union ended up being one to G Corporation, after Yamamoto reveals that Kazuya ordered a purge on the two warring superpowers.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Seeing the Incubus King as Hwoarang's final opponent in the Chaos Arena Battle Royale is enough to fly him in a fit of rage that he straight up kills the Incubus King. Justified, since Hwoarang has flashbacks of him being attacked by Devil Jin in 5.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Turns out that Rin Uehara was actually friends with Jun Kazama and is also Jin's honorary godmother. She also trained with Jin in the same karate dojo in Australia.
  • The Reveal:
    • Chapter 4 reveals that Kazuya ordered The Purge on both the UFS and Chinese Union governments, replacing their respective heads of state with leaders who are loyal to him, effectively turning the two superpowers into Puppet States for the G Corporation.
    • Chapter 5 reveals that Rin has been long acquainted to Jun Kazama and is also revealed to be the honorary godparent to Jin.
  • Villain Killer: Tekken characters end up getting this reputation towards Taimanin villains:
    • Hwoarang is the first Tekken character to kill a demon, namely Ryuji Kuroi/Incubus King by beheading him with his Dead End throw.
    • Kazuya kills Oboro in the same manner he killed Heihachi in Tekken 7. The only main difference is that he impales his fist deep into Oboro's chest, carving a hole through it.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 8 saw the return of Jun Kazama, being Rin's opponent in the qualifying rounds.
