Okay so the fics I talk about is when Izuku was diagnosed quirkless but then obtained some kind of crossover power. Flames from Reborn for example, because there's several fics doing that.

So one approach is having him just say to the world "finally got my quirk, yay" and move on. Because power is power.

In one fic where a whole gang from Reborn dimensionjumps into BNHA, they all declare their Flame powers as Quirks, but try to keep on down low because there is notable weirdness.

In a couple reincarnation fics they have both Flames and Quirks. I.e. Tsuna-into-Shoto has *two* packages of Fire&Ice powers just for sheer hilarity.

However in another fic, where Izuku is reincarnated Tsuna with all his memories, he philosophises that he wishes he could've been a Quirkless hero in order to inspire against the discrimination, but that he will not be seen that way. In the same fic, two super-genius characters, canon Hatsune Mei and transplanted guy from Dr. Stone are faking quirks by using their genius intellects.

And that bit is where it starts feeling kinda weird. Why bother claiming photographic memory as a quirk or faking zoom quirk with contact lenses instead of just saying "Intelligence Quirk"?

And then another fic went so weird with it that I had to drop it  In it Izuku landed into a coma for a year during which he reincarnated into a scifi future and grew up to be a supersoldier in a rebellion against superpower supremacy empire. When he came back he brought his intelligence, and knowledge and somehow his genetic modifications. So when he paired up with Mei to build himself gadgets and she discovered he has abnormal bone and muscle density him insistently saying it as "not a quirk don't think about it" felt weird as hell.

  • One Piece:
    • The Devil Fruits, primary source of unique superpowers in the setting, are in-universe acknowledged as a gamble. While they always grant some kind of power, only a small portion has been documented and most of them are a total mystery. Anybody presented with an opportunity won't know what positives they get, while the downside of Super Drowning Skills and being depowered by water while living on islands dotted around massive oceans is always very relevant. The series on the whole shows that in vast majority cases even a seemingly weaksauce power can be trained to be highly useful if backed with enough creativity and necessary physical strength to wield it. And on the flipside, even a power that has very clear potential for great use can be wasted on someone who does not put effort into it.
    • Logia type Fruits are shown as usually the easiest ticket to power due to their standard abilities. They allow the user to both produce an element and transform their body into it, attacking and avoiding counters by being intangible. Reflexive changing requires some amount of training and practice, but only a small handful of opponents in early movies have failed to have that mastery. Within that power however lies a hidden downside that gets brought up during introduction to the New World with Caribou and his Swamp-Swamp Fruit used as an object lesson. Pekoms details that he, like many others, has coasted through the first half of the Grand Line on the basics of his power, without any need to push himself. But in the New World, Haki users are plentiful and can bypass the basic invulnerability of Logia and if the user hasn't trained well they'll go down in one hit. The real powerhouses of the Logia class, of course, usually have that training.
      • Above even the standard Logia Fruits are the powers granted to Admiral Kizaru: As a being made of pure light, he is nearly massless, can move at the speed of light, can kick with near-infinite force, and has no clear elemental weakness. It's no wonder he tends to treat combat as an absolute joke and makes small talk with his enemies.
      • Former Admiral Aokiji is also a clear winner, as his Freeze-Freeze Fruit grants him the power to freeze even the ocean, which negates the biggest weakness he has. And in this world, Harmless Freezing is very much NOT in effect.
      • Fleet Admiral Akainu is one of the strongest characters in One Piece, and it clearly shows. He not only singlehandedly defeated and killed Ace himself, but also survived a wrathful Curb-Stomp Battle from Whitebeard himself, with not the worse for wear. He also defeated the above-mentioned Aokiji after a 10 day long battle. He's so strong that Oda himself has revealed that if he was to be the protagonist of One Piece, he would have become Pirate King in 5 years. note
      • Caesar Clown is up there as well. He ate the Gasu Gasu no Mi, which allows him to transform into, generate, and control gasses, including deadly poisonous gas, highly explosive gas, and oxygen. Yes, he can (and has) removed all the oxygen from around himself, easily defeating Luffy, Franky, Nico Robin, Smoker, and Tashigi through this by suffocating them. However being a scientist rather than a primary combatant, he is very vulnerable to Haki-users that manage to avoid his tricks.
