Ace of Spades by itself as a bad omen (correct usage) 12/ 39
  • Bakuten Shoot Beyblade Foreshadowing:
    • In S1E38, Ralf draws the Ace Of Spades. Knowing that he views a beybattle the same as a true battle with the defeating party "dying in spirit", things weren't looking good for him.
  • Characters.Halo UNSC Marines And ODST Sgt. John Forge: Ace Of Spades: Has an Ace of Spades playing card strapped to his left pauldron as a memento of his daughter. It symbolizes him being the best Marine aboard the Spirit of Fire, spoiler:and foreshadows his Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Characters.Ruby Quest Ace: Ace Of Spades: Ace (whose signature is a single spade symbol) is the main "tangible" antagonist, having completely succumbed to the Eldritch Abomination's control months ago.
  • Trouble for Two: Whoever draws the Ace of Spades in the suicide club card draw is the person who dies. Whoever draws the ace of clubs has to go along as the executioner.
  • A Line to Kill: The night before he's murdered Charles le Mesurier finds an Ace of Spades on his car windshield. He thinks it's lucky but Anthony knows it's "the death card." The use of a playing card also turns out to be a Chekhov's Gun as the motive for the murder relates to le Mesurier being the owner of a gambling website.
  • Recap.I Love Lucy S 1 E 4 Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her: Ethel has learned to tell fortunes with playing cards. She has Lucy draw two cards, only to become stricken with fright when she sees them. When Lucy demands to know what they mean, Ethel explains that the Queen of Hearts represents her and the Ace of Spades is death. This fuels Lucy's mistaken belief throughout the episode that Ricky is attempting to kill her.
  • Hearts (the card game): By itself its not a penalty card, but it is a liability, because whoever plays it (or the King of Spades) on a spade-led trick is almost certain to win the dreaded Queen of Spades card (the exception is when it's the last card played and the Queen isn't out). This means the player has to avoid playing these two cards at all costs, until they can safely get rid of them. A weak example, because it's troping the rules of a card game, but it does talk about the Ace of Spades being a bad sign.
  • Carmen: The titular character draws spades during a fortune-telling game which she believes foretells her death. Sure enough, her former lover Don Jose kills her in a jealous rage. I'm almost tempted to say this is closer to Tarot Troubles than anything else if we choose to disambig.
  • Call of Juarez: Gunslinger: John Wesley Hardin has two of this card in his hat, and the Nugget of Truth that relates to him is also an Ace of Spades. Fitting as the game outright refers to him as The Ace when it comes to the gunslingers of the Wild West. His Boss Subtitles also features him shooting through one.
  • Bananaman: In "Harbour of Lost Ships", Bananaman picks a card from General Blight. He gets the ace of spades, or the dead man's card, but as the viewers can see, all of Blight's cards are the exact same. He is then forced to Walk the Plank.
  • Pinocchio: Honest John tricks Pinocchio into going to the dangerous Pleasure Island by giving him his "ticket", an Ace of Spades card.
  • WhateleyUniverse.Tropes A To I: In Silver Ghost, Golden Angel (Part 3), used by Cardsharp:
The card was the Ace of Spades, the Death Card. Cardsharp held before him, like a priest presenting a crucifix to a vampire. FEAR, mortal terror, primordial panic radiated out from the card, filling Kirk's mind with dread.
